Once again Barrett’s boot has cost us a test against the Boks........
Of course we'll just forget the fact that he set up the one and only try.
His kicking is shart though. How does he usually kick in Japan? He's usually solid in the NH.
He was easily our best player. Sadly, it’s really hard to tell from Mounga’s performance if BB to fullback experiment actually worked

We wouldn't have scored our try without a good pass from SBW. It wasn't perfect, but good enough to put him in the hole. ALB looked better when he came on but we were dominating the game at that point (and should have put it away).
Is your real name Khoder Nasser ?

ALB > SBW
AS > TJP
SC/AS > MTlots of fixes available I think. Fair result all in all.
Decision making the devil in the first half, skills in the second.
Read looks more 6 these days which paves way for ardie at 8. I think the Richie / Barrett combo not as bad as others, the ability to interchange key in offering a more dynamic attack. TJ woeful passing to Richie made a difficult first half for him.
Having said all that, think too much powder being kept dry ... we have showed zero counter to rush defense.

1 good pass, that's it. Not a hard or tricky one either. I'm sure ALB or Laumape would have made it, and done something else too

I don't think SBW at his best is as good as Laumape is now, so hardly a fanboy. Still don't think he was shit today.

Ok. Is that acceptable for All Black Rugby these days ? stink.

To all those people bagging RM already. This was his first start in a big game and only his 3rd overall. He got very little game time last year, due to the coaches being so stuck to their dmac-project. He's a good 10, but needs time in black to reach his potential.
BB is best at fullback; he was just okay at 10 last week against a weaker opposition and was very good today at 15. They should continue that.
I have the impression that we're going to see more of RM-BB as a playmaking duo, so no clear 10-15 split.
-
You're mistaken
I'm not excited more intrigued by sudden decline in ABs skill levels overall especially amongst their backline2019 RWC is a different beast to last 2 Comps when ABs were the best side by far TBH there were no serious challengers
If ABs are not at their best they will lose

I don’t we have a choice but to play Read at 6 and have Savea and Cane on at the same time. We don’t have a good six replacement and they won’t drop Read so might as well make him useful.
Switching positions this close to a World Cup......
Well could be worse, could be playing fullbacks as centres I guess.

What I like about Mounga and ALB (and Coles) against rush D is they use footwork so you can’t get a good shot on them. Mounga fir me helped us get some momentum through his runs where as Barrett just runs hard and straight which often gets nullified by massive forwards. Noticed a change in A Smiths game as well, was running across 2-3 steps to hold rush then hitting first reciever which was having a lot of success. Worth persevering.

Hands up those of you able to remember 1991?
A stellar team for the ages 4 years ago still packed with a spine of greats, a little bit rusty leading into it but, it'll be alright in October, " just look at the talent and experience "...
I don't get how our gameplans of the last 18 months or so, gives us the best chance of winning on any given day.
Are we always going to battle and out-cute " balls to the wall" psycho rush defences or are we one day going to go up the guts for 5 phases, once, in a game?
Greatest powder dry ruse in the history of professional sport? 🤨

Lots of 1991 echos.

@Stargazer difference is that BB has delivered against sides like SA at ten. Three months before a WC is not time to develop a ten who’s not ready yet.
Yes, but BB has also had a lot more games in his career. BB is the best fullback we have. Full stop. It definitely isn't Jordie, and BFA has been quite disappointing thus far, too.
I agree that 3 months before a RWC is short, but we have no better option than RM-BB as a 10-15 combo.
And RM wasn't half as bad as some people are saying.

@Kirwan Mo'unga's had it easy at SR level where he's always playing on the front foot. He'll take a good lesson out of tonight but needs to learn quickly on how to play when his forwards are going backwards. So far he just looks like a flat track bully like his mate George Bridge who needs to learn some defence.
