Pumas squad from which they'll select the team for the first test against the All Blacks:
Argentina included five European-based players but omitted Juan Imhoff from their squad for next weekend’s Rugby Championship match against New Zealand, the Argentinian Rugby Union announced. The Argentine governing body has recently softened restrictions on individuals with contracts outside the country representing the Pumas. Head coach Mario Ledesma picked four European-based players: fly-half Nicolas Sanchez, who is with Stade Francais, Toulon back-rower Facundo Isa, Bordeaux-Begles winger Santiago Cordero and Saracens prop Juan Figallo. But Ledesma omitted winger Imhoff, 31, whose last international appearance came at the 2015 Rugby World Cup and plays for Racing 92 in France. Castres fly-half Benjamin Urdapilleta, is also absent, but he is injured and is part of Ledesma’s preliminary Rugby World Cup squad.
The majority of the 30-man squad come from a Jaguares side who reached the Super Rugby final for the first time on July 7, losing to 10-time winners the Crusaders. Centre Lucas Mensa is the only uncapped player.
Good squad. Jags were stronger 😀

In the build up to the All Blacks first Rugby Championship match this weekend, the team has been leaked to the media. In a strange twist coach Steve Hansen has only selected three names to start in Buenos Aires.
11-Sevu Reece
13-Braydon Ennor
14-George BridgeAssistant coach Ian Foster was seen mumbling under his breath asking Steve, what about the other 12? To which Steve gave a swift response, ‘they’re still on mad Monday’

This is clearly fake. Everyone knows Reece is a right winger and Bridge has been playing left wing all year.....
For those actually interested the team is named Friday morning (Thurs Argie time).

Can someone tell me why @Jaguares4real got banned?
I’d love his views on how this friendly will go.
If I had to guess he was making a general nuisance of himself, trolling on a number of threads including the NZ politics one

@MN5 I doubt he will watch as no one in Argentina cares about games outside the RWC.
Back to the game, wil be an interesting test match, with an a/b AB team being run out, against a Puma side chock full of Jaguares who should be a step ahead of the ABs in terms or preparation with majority of thier lads playing together all season.
I see TAB giving $1.90 for a 13.5 point start to the Pumas, seems a reasonable option.

OK. Hope the ABs don't mind playing in an empty stadium. Might be quite eerie for them.

Steve likes to mix things up just to keep the fans interested.

@MN5 It's a temporary ban
Temporary until the end of the rugby season I hope. I’m all for alternate views but not for what his posts turned into. Found myself just rapidly scrolling through mountains of posts. He committed the ultimate forum sin - his posts became boring.

Yeah bit in bold is the bit that can't be assigned to it.
Reckon the ABs will be pretty fired up, few guys with a point to prove there.

I don't think they're going to play Tu'inukuafe at TH with Laulala and Taavoa also in the squad. I'd expect big Karl to be named at LH (1 or 17) and Laulala or Taavoa to start at TH (and the other on the bench). Tu'ungafasi can cover both, so he'll probably end up in the 17 jersey if he doesn't start.
Considering Aaron Smith and Josh Ioane play together for the Highlanders, and it will be Ioane's debut, I'd expect both to be named on the bench. So I think TJP may get the start.
Agree with the rest.
Edit: forgot that Moli is in the squad, too. Tu'ungafasi will probably start at TH then, and Moli on the bench (17).

Pretty close to what I'd go with, assuming SBW stays injured:
- Tu’inukuafe
- Coles
- Tu’ungafasi
- Retallick
- Tuipulotu
- Fifita
- Cane
- Savea
- TJP (Smith)
- Barrett
- Ioane
- Laumape
- Leinert-Brown
- Bridge
- Smith
- Coltman
- Moli
- Taavao/Laulala
- Hemopo
- Jacobsen/Papalii
- Smith (TJP)
- Ioane
- Ennor
