Hurricanes vs Bulls

@Stargazer with Christie and Judd leaving, who are the prime candidates to back up Perenara moving forward? Do we chase Fakatava? Some have mentioned Jono Hickey as a future replacement (eww) or do we wait for the ITM Cup and hope a gem comes through from there.
-
@Canes4life The thought of Jono Hickey or Jamie Booth (back) at the Canes give me nightmares. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether Fakatava re-signs at the Highlanders. I wish they'd hurry up with their announcements!
-
@Stargazer I'd say a few will come once our campaign finishes.
-
@Canes4life I meant the Highlanders' announcements. We've been waiting for weeks now. Then we'd maybe know whether Fakatava is still a free man.
-
@Stargazer Oh got yah, hopefully Fakatava sees the light and heads North.
-
@Canes4life Melani Matavao?
-
@KiwiMurph Can't be right. He's playing club rugby in Waikato and never spotted in Wellington this year. I briefly thought @Bones was referring to Jono Hickey (already mentioned earlier by @Canes4life ), but I don't think he was ever signed.
-
@Bones Price? I think he was born in Auckland and he went to (at least his final years) St Kent's. So the Wellington Lions probably signed him from Auckland (I think that was in 2016). He still made the Hurricanes Dev squad last year, but - as I said - he's now playing in Waikato, so I assume his contract with Wellington has expired.
(In my previous response, I confused Wellington and the Hurricanes, sorry).
-
@Stargazer Price was poached by St Kents from Tauranga BC so originally from the BOP I think.
I first noticed him playing for the Chiefs Dev team this season and he has been playing for Hamilton Marist.
Stratton would be a handy pickup for the Canes.

Against the Crusaders in pre season the Canes had Price, Callum Harkin and Jono Hickey as their halfbacks. I was really impressed by Harkin but he unfortunately broke his ankle in that game. Maybe they are looking at him as one option?
