Generally speaking, you'd like to think that the private school system that puts out a lot of our players and administrators, would also have a few who knew how to balance a budget.

    Clearly fucking not

@nzzp all of Australian Rugby, pretty much.

bummer. I knew about ARU's woes, but having a franchise (who should have a clearly defined scope and limited costs) is a real concern.

@NTA I really like that jersey, prefer it over the home jersey.

And its funny because years ago, green with gold trim was actually our national rugby team's colour.

What an awful kit. What little of it you can see.

    Actually, a great kit ruined.

12 logos or sponsors, imagine some more on the back as well.

    I know.
The reason I have an inkling for NSW over Qld in origin is because of that (formerly) beautiful 2 blues kit if 1989 ( shared by the tahs)

    @Rapido rightoh.

For reference: I'm not really into league. But agree that the once-simple blue kit is getting ridiculous with "away" versions

Heard Gordon Bray extolling the virtues of St Josephs in Sydney. Their a,b and c grade sides went through the whole season unbeaten.

This not good. Must be some shoddy other teams in these grades and one school having ALL the talent can't be a good thing.

    This is not entirely true.

Sydney private school sports is very weird. There is no single competition across Sydney for schoolboy rugby.

The teams play in different competitions/school associations with roughly half a dozen schools in each - GPS, CAS, ISA etc.

So when Bray says St Joseph's went undefeated - it is only against the other 5 teams in their association (GPS) - now admittedly their 6 team competition/association (GPS) is the strongest but it's still not the full picture.

There are some inter-competition/association games between these competitions/associations at the start of the year before they divide into their separate competitions/associations - I know St Joseph's 1st XV lost to one of the CAS schools at the start of this year.

@KiwiMurph they don't like inter comp games because the public schools occasionally thrash them 😉

Sydney schools Rugby is a fucking joke.

It's weird that there are so few games between the different comps. No idea why GPS and TAS in Brisbane can't play each other more often or even Sydney schools versus Brisbane schools. Such a ridiculous closed shop. I don't read the Courier Mail any more but apparently they're heavily promoting GPS schools rugby. That's nice for old boys and the parents who can afford to pay 20k plus a year to send their boys to those schools.
