Smith went to CBHS and Cridge originally from the area interesting they are not playing Club Rugby in their franchise regions. all the Crusader players not in the 23 or touring group play in Crusader regions.More accurately, Smith got poached from Nelson College by CBHS!

It sounds like Coles and Evans will be on the plane to South Africa but might not be quite ready for the Jaguares this week.
Will three games be enough for them to ready themselves for playoff football? Who knows, it will be a big boost having them back in our pack though.

I will be interested to see whether or not Plumtree decides to keep some of his big guns in NZ when the rest of the squad heads to S.A. - assuming they get maximum points against the Jaguares this Friday and whether that is enough to seal 4th position. It will also mean we obviously concede any chance of chasing the Crusaders, unless our backups produce stunners against the Lions & Sharks. The positive is we don't risk injuries to the likes of TJ, Beaudy, Jordie, Laumape, Fifita, Walker-Leawere, Aumua, Proctor & Ardie and it will give them three weeks to freshen up before the Blues game. This could also have the opposite affect and these guys could become rusty with lack of game minutes.
This will also allow guys like Bedwell-Curtis, Umaga-Jensen, Rayasi, Cridge etc the chance to put their hand up for consistent selection.
Barring injuries, I would like to see this 23 get a run in S.A:- Smith 2. Coles 3. Fidow 4. Cridge 5. Leaupepe 6. Bedwell-Curtis 7. Kirifi 8. Evans 9. Judd 10. Smith 11. Rayasi 12. Umaga-Jensen 13. B Proctor 14. Goosen 15. Marshall

Just shows you that one selector/coach (or internet pundit!) player can have a much higher appreciation of a player than the NZ Under 20s selector.

@Canes4life From A WC perspective we need Savea,Both Barretts and TJ fit and refreshed.So maybe a good idea to rest them The Crusaders have Rested their AB's on a regular basis.We are potentially 3 or 4 injuries away from WC Trouble.

Some injury updates:
- Fidow isn't playing atm due to fitness related issues from his shoulder injury.
- Ben May had minor surgery on his knee but should be okay for the playoffs.
- Fraser Armstrong has a minor back complaint.
- Coles is still having trouble with the calf, so much so the Canes made him get a scan on his back.
- Chase Tiatia has a hamstring injury.

HURRICANES CONFIRM ANOTHER FOUR PLAYERS FOR 2020 ROSTER
Four more players have confirmed their future is with the Hurricanes. Experienced loose forward Reed Prinsep has extended his contract through until at least 2021. The 26-year-old, who has captained the Hurricanes in 2019, has made 39 appearances for the Hurricanes since he made his debut against the Sunwolves in 2017. Powerful lock Kane Le'aupepe has also agreed terms with the club and also signed on until at least 2021. Having been called into the Hurricanes squad this year as injury cover, the 2.01m, 124kg middle rower has impressed the coaching team with his work ethic and character. The 26-year-old, who plays international rugby for Manu Samoa, made his debut for the Hurricanes against the Crusaders and has since made five appearances. The pair are joined by first five-eighth Jackson Garden-Bachop and outside back Jonah Lowe who have signed until at least the end of the 2020 Investec Super Rugby season. Garden-Bachop, 24, has made six appearances for the Hurricanes since his debut against the Jaguares last year. Lowe, 23, has been sidelined with injury for most of the 2019 campaign after a solid pre-season. He made his debut for the Hurricanes last season against the Crusaders in Christchurch. Hurricanes head coach John Plumtree believed the quartet provided further continuity for the club heading into next season. "Reed has grown each year with the Hurricanes and is establishing himself as a significant contributor on the field with his loose forward play and his leadership qualities. He continues to be a great example to others," he said. "Kane has been a really good for the Hurricanes since arriving as injury cover. We are delighted he is keen to continue his development in our environment. He's also got real size and athletic ability." And they've re-signed JG-B. I'm wondering whether they're going to re-sign James Marshall and Fletcher Smith, too.
And do they already know what BB is going to do and has that influenced their decision to re-sign JG-B or decisions regarding Marshall and Smith?
I also wonder whether McClutchie is in the mix somehow; or will be, if he has a good M10 Cup season?
