Its the Masters baby!

18 months ago he was ranked 1199th in the world and his doctors told him his body was so shot he should give up playing. Tiger proved them all wrong.

Not so long ago, Tiger was somewhere between holy relic, distant ghost and washed-up film star. There are comebacks, there are renaissances and then there are resurrections -
Last round went from tense to boring. Tiger did nothing except not make mistakes while everyone else imploded around him, especially the Italian.
-
@Billy-Tell not sure his 15-16 combo counts as just not making mistakes.
Seriously, he won this just as much, if not more, than others lost it.
-
I'm probably annoyed because
a) I don't like Tiger
b) At one stage, we had 5 players on -12...and no play-off at the end... -

@Billy-Tell dont have like him, but no denying him.
This is huge, huge result.
Plenty of players have wilted on day 4, many times it is just about making pars while other dont.
Tiger hype has been building for a while now...are we at Peak Tiger?

I heard something earlier in the week where they were saying the Masters winner often comes from someone ranked around 10-16:
10 Xander Schauffele 5.823
11 Paul Casey 5.585
12 Tiger Woods 5.305
13 Tommy Fleetwood 5.046
**14 Jason Day 4.985
15 Tony Finau 4.857
16 Matt Kuchar 4.749Again...plus a few others in there were in the hunt too

You make it sound like a bad thing.
I'm pretty sure that's how almost every golf tournament is won. Especially the last rounds of big ones when the pressure is really on.

@Chester-Draws Michael Campbells major win...he plodded along while others imploded
-
I wouldn't say he played boring golf, that shot on 16 was a pearler.
But it was a bit of a throwback to the early 2000s 'tiger effect', where good golfers would go to water (metaphorically and literally) in the final round of a major when Tiger was stalking them.
He's by no means a good person, but I love a comeback story. Sets up a great year of major golf. The only shame was it had all finished before any of us woke up!

I'm the opposite of a Tiger fan but he was the only one of the leaders to stand up on the back 9 - the other who did were coming from a few shots back. Incredible that the 4 players closest to him all went into the water on 12 and took 5 while he played for a dull middle of the green par. Frankie was a bit unlucky with his 7 on 15 though, to hit the pine cone and then for that to cause a splashdown - but then he had already crumbled at 12.
I think the difference for this version of Tiger is that he has finally accepted his physical limitations and is playing the percentages. Pre back repair, a couple of birdies and he would be trying to hit booming drives and get wild, now he is being outdriven by the young bucks but is a good enough all round player to get through.

If that is true he is even more dangerous now. Who would bet against him going on a majors tear if his body continues to hold up?

Tiger only par'd 8 of 18 holes in the last round and ended up 2 under for the day? He made a truck load of "mistakes"

Finally got to watch the highlights of the final round. That final round was an absolute classic. So many guys in contention right until the final few holes. And the Tiger back from the dead narrative. Might be one of the most amazing Masters finishes ever. Molinari couldn't hold it, he just blew up big time after looking invincible. Tiger was like a robot, no emotional breakdown at the end. If it was me, after everything he's been through physically (the personal stuff was his own doing) and the fact that a year ago he was on the verge of giving it away, I think the dust on course would have had me weeping big time
