Chiefs vs Blues

Not sure if you guys know but in the last 2 minutes Retallick was very ginger clutching at his left elbow. He was lying on the ground for a bit in the last seconds then hobbled back to our D line very slowly

Me oh my what a game.
Boomfa!

Great game of footy. Just watched the second half on replay. Was on a win / win (and I suppose a lose / lose) in that game given Chiefs are my team, but was more than happy for the Blues to continue their run.
Was really quite surprised looking at the teams as the Sky comms announced them just how evenly matched they were. I kind of try and work out individual v individual to see where the advantage might be. And even where there was a obvious better player (Retallick, Rieko) it wasn't necessarily overwhelming (PT, AlaimaLOW).
There was a knock on before Rieko's try. I called it in real time and TMO was poor not to pick it up. (Good finish though).
Makes up for the knock on before Boshier's (which could be argued was less clear and less obvious so am prepared to forgive that one).

Great game. Despite the loss this Blues team is a different kettle of fish. Chiefs looking like a completely different team to that rabble from the early season. Cliche but NZ rugby was the winner 👍

@antipodean I can supply a phone booth for the number of people who would agree with you..Bryant is about as poor as an official can be especially when it comes to break down..can think back to the Saders v Blues game round 1 where he continued to warn the Saders but failed to dish out out an cards not to mention a deliberate knock down from Manase Matele..no sanctions..
As for Jaco..is about as inconsistent as you can get...!,Ahem ...

Tahuriorangi gets 8 minutes.
I know Chiefs won, but he is demonstrably better than Weber.

My point being: we don't get to see the proof of that. It's a head-scratcher.

Up there with how the hell Tana couldn't see Nanai was just a teency weency bit better than Collins.
Fuck that's a waste of talent letting him go.

The Canes swapped him for the Ginger. If you're not going to use him then can we please have him back? Take the Ginga back as well.

Maybe the ABs don't want a reverse Folau.
Players should keep their opinions to themselves, until after they retire. If I was AB selector, I would pick someone other than Weber if it was a close call. He's not good enough for them to wear any heat at all.
(Note, I'm not actually in opposition to Weber's statements so far. I just don't think ABs should start making any political and social statements, because it can only end in tears. If Weber gets to make rainbow statements, why should Fafita not get to put his position too? Quite apart from anything else, it cannot help team unity if some people are allowed to say what they think and others are not.)

That's total bs. He's hardly the only one publically disagreeing with Folau and warning against the potentially harmful effects of statements like Folau's on young people struggling with their sexual identity. Perenara, Milner-Skudder, Ardie Savea etc.
What they've all said is also entirely consistent with the ABs policies regarding inclusiveness and mental health. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't been able to say those things, considering that those statements - unlike Folau's - aren't discriminating or otherwise harmful to anyone.
Anyway, I don't want that discussion in this thread as well, but Weber's non-selection for the ABs has absolutely zero to do with his public statements on social or other issues.
I'll explain my point about TTT though. My point was - again - that we don't get to see any proof of him being the right player for the 3rd halfback spot in the ABs. He gets so little game time, that we actually can't see that he is better than anyone else (Smith and Perenara excluded). I wasn't only thinking of a comparison with Weber, but also Hall and even Drummond.

We are definitely keeping TTT’s powder dry for the RWC

Nonu beat 10 defenders in this game, which is unreal considering his age. Most players can't even do that once in their careers. It's just not normal for someone to carry their explosiveness for this long.
Karl T was awesome. Loving the scrummaging but also the ball skills and ball carrying of his this season.
Faiane is owning that 13 jersey. Master stroke by Leon to shove him out there. Does so much work every week and is working well with Nonu and the outsides.
Robinson, Tuipulotu and Papali'i were massive again. Papali'i reminds me a bit of a young Kieran, just a do-it-all kind of backrower.
Happy enough with how Otere is tracking now. Just keep the errors down, kick your goals and that will do for now. Nonu and TJ helped out quite a bit with running the backline in this game, but that's OK.
Some of the bench players played well. Jed Brown had a pretty good debut game.

@Northlandallday Hodgman threw the pass to Moulds who got collected by the tackler at the same time..mind you it’s insignificant compared to the efforts of the Alan Parsons project who threw a short intercept pass because he virtually sent an invitation to Brad Weber and just to top it off,a piss poor weak as attempted tackle on ALB which lead to a try ..
Watched him standing in the huddle at the end of the game..the look on his face said everything..I should be starting off the bench in the next game against the Highlanders....but it won’t happen..because he trains the house down.
The Blues are now developing a very hard working and solid work ethic to their pack ,but Parsons is now starting to look the one that’s been part of this team for far too long and will not get any better..where I do believe there’s massive improvement in the other 7 that started last nights match. -
after that try when the Chiefs winger ran over top of Caleb Clarke I thought it was a bit rough he was allowed to stand outside the circle while everyone was regathering, its times like that, particularly with a young fella you bring him in and pick him up rather than leave him outside so he feels even worse for missing the tackle...am sure it wasnt deliberate or anything, just something I noticed.

@Chester-Draws I didn't watch the game...
I didn't feel like pointing out the negatives. I enjoyed the game.
