It hasn't been the best year in terms of the play on the field, but frankly we have peaked early before and gone on to fail at the RWC. Hansen has a decent pool of players, his record suggests that he knows what he is doing, he can put it all together in time for japan next year. The venue will be to our advantage, warm weather and a nice dry fast track. The Jaaps will like it too....

so apparently CAne is looking at the last 4 rounds of Super XX to get back into action!
He said he was hoping to play some part in the final stages of the Chiefs' 2019 campaign, meaning a potential return in May, with his recovery not "tracking too bad".
Assuming he comes back firing, could be a blessing, that is assuming he does manage to hit the field running....

In fairness, there are All Blacks, and then there are All Blacks. The Chiefs division includes the 3rd hooker, the 3rd tighthead, the third halfback, and an injury call up.
Only Brodie, DMac and ALB are game day All Blacks

Some interesting markets from the NZ TAB as to who will start the opening match of the RWC in each position.
These went up about a week ago, I was overseas so couldn't bet, George Bridge opened at 12, now paying 6, the 12 was very good value, not sure about the 6.

Anything could happen between now and the first game of the cup, injuries could stop one of the nailed on starters.
Owen Franks at 1.22 looks short to me.

TJP at $4 looked good before the season started.
Cane is the best bet at $1.25. He will be picked in the squad regardless (unless there are complications) of how bad or good he looks coming back. Once in the squad I could see him being picked in the first test both as part of a full strength team (if he comes back looking good) or picked to prove himself/work his way back into form (if he comes back gingerly/misses TRC).
The fact he is injured now weirdly helps his chances IMO as any of the other "certain" picks can all fall over during Super Rugby and be ruled out where he can't.
