Gallagher was my favourite AB at that time. Was absolutely crushed when he went to league. A deadset legend in black.
Is that the guy that NZ poached from England/Ireland.........?
I'll think you'll find, as he says repeatedly, that there was no future for him in NH rugby and he would bever have been selected, so he self poached himself to play club rugby in NZ.
Really? - like a lot of the SR players then. Funny how the world turns - didnβt know that.
He played for Ireland a in 1996 after an extensive test career in New Zealand
Bit of an own goal there mate.

@mn5 It was a pity we didn't move Timu earlier.
On Ridge. I remember being on a camping holiday and in the days before smartphones being desperate for something to read on a rainy day, my exes uncles had Ridges book and it was reasonably good, he certainly said what he thought. I do recall one chapter where he supposedly sledged Brad Thorn ( I find that hard to believe ) about wanting to become an AB. Given what the latter ended up achieving in Union I would find it extremely funny being a fly on the wall if they ever ended up in the same room together.

Yeah, that was always funny, but at the time made sense I reckon - who would have thought he'd become a legend in rugby (enough of this Union rubbish, we're not Australian ) and TBF he was a bit of a failure on his first go round.
I think TBF that Ridge which take any shit he got or it on the chin.

@mn5 you should read beleaguered, it gives the warriors side of the story . Agree his book is good though.
Thanks but I've got a smartphone these days, my attention span doesn't go beyond memes and talking shit on forums with other blokes.

Basically he got a huge contract during the super league bullshit , behaved like a fluffybunny. Retired and came back as management and behaved like a fluffybunny .

I should have said hypocritical fluffybunny , he was injured so often his teammates called him tampon- in one week and out for three yet he wanted to cut players for getting injured too often

I must say it broke my heart a bit when I found out he was a pom. But it says everything about pom rugby at the time that a player of his calibre would never have gotten near the top. In any case, he acquired the bulk of his skills through the excellence of the NZ rugby system π.
On Ridge, maybe he would have been less of a cnut if he hadn't gone to the cnut's nest that is Manly?
On Timu, would Jonah have been selected if Timu hadn't defected to league?
On Crowley, that bugger looked like a 70s AB who snuck onto the ground. Talk about regressing.
I'm not sure if they all played together on the same team, but Deans, Fox, McCahill, Wright and Crowley would have to be up there with the least physically imposing ABs of all time.

@rancid-schnitzel in his book he talks about him and a mate beating up a taxi driver and stealing her money when he was a teenager so Manly canβt be solely responsible for him turning into such a fluffybunny .
Turned out the taxi driver was Jarrod McCrackons aunt and he gave Ridge a hiding at a kiwis training camp as payback . -

Maybe dripping wet with midgets on their backs.

Look. Tana and BOD have buried the hatchet and are sharing a laugh.
I see BOD only got him a glass of water while he gets himself a pint of the black nectar.
Cheap bastard.
