I havent watched but listened to Yealdens commentary.

From his comments, the MOTM would be either Savea or Tu'unukuafe.

But I gotta say, the myth of the Argie scrum is gone, we smashed them with a front row of Perry, Harris and Ta'avao!

Ben Smith had a quiet game at full back today. He has had 2 exceptional games for the AB's this year, otherwise he's been basically solid rather than great.

The notable characteristic of his best games is that he was on the right wing for both.

if a ref is going to make a call based on his viewing of a play on the big screen, against the call of the TMO, do we need a TMO (the fact he very likely got it wrong is irrelevant given how often TMOs do)

I have no issues with him making the call, but it does bring into question the need for a TMO if a ref is going to go to him and then ignore him.

Overall good game. Conditions were poor before hand so Cld expect some drop ball. One of those games where everyone played part, yes some had quieter games but sometimes ball just goes that way. Overall I think Ardie was with Sam Cane two most influential players. Both just massive physically.
Any complaint is nit-picking. Take those 5 points anyday!

Maynal highlighted the issues with modern rugby, which is primarily the inconsistency of the refereeing. Each individual call could be OK, but they vary so much from week to week it's bloody frustrating.

What's a double movement? When is a tackle aroudn the chest a penalty? How the hell you card SBW for offside, but then not marching an Argie for a professional foul killing quick ball is beyond me. By comparison, I thought the ref in the morning game could have gone to the pocket earlie. It's not so much bad refereeing, as inconsistent bloody refereeing, and never knowing where the line is. Farked if I know how the players feel.

Overall, I'm pretty comfortable with having fewer YC in the game, and personally would be stoked if captains were penalised for trying to tell a ref how to ref the game! Maybe an automatic penalty for mentioning Yellow Card or Professional Foul. Would quickly change how captains deal with referees.

Anyhoo, a good game to watch, and some great forward dominance. Good to see some of the fringer players step up.

Great to see Ardie step up and play a blinder. I think what we're seeing is the coaches selecting on attributes, adn then backing themselves to get skills and patterns into the players. This is how someone like Dane Coles goes from fringe scary to best in world; ditto with DMac and Codie Taylor, and Ardie, and so on. Hopefully Akira gets there soon

Hansen has some decisions to make about the backs in particular I reckon. Naholo was better on the left wing than he has been on the right for a while. But not good enough to push Reiko out. As a right wing he’s nowhere near BFA, who has been better there than at fullback. Beauden looks decent at fullback, but for me he’s still easily our best 1st five. Crotty was good today but no better than Goodhue at centre. After the last 2 games I wonder how much of our backline’s game plan depends on the big unit ball handler at first receiver which we’ve been missing without BBBR. And our defence seems wobbly without Wayne Smith around.

@jc I disagree on a couple of points. To me Naholo looked like a fish out water on the left, but in saying that I am not convinced about him being on the right either.

The second part I disagree with is Barrett being easily the best first five. As a footy player Barrett is a better player than Mo'unga at this stage, but I am not convinced he is a better 10.

As much as I like Reiko it was annoying watching him running in to join every push and shove... wish one of the pumas had sat him on his arse

In stark contrast to last week, BB kicked beautifully. Our scrum did excellent work, and the loosies were in the thick of it all night. I much prefer BFA on the wing than fullback. I also rate Sam Whitelock as an infinitely better captain than Read.

While I reckon the TMO did a pretty good job (no Ayoub, thank god) the ref was a bit baffling at times with what he blew up and what he let go. And the Argies were their own worst enemies with some truly shit kick in plays. I bet their coach has them practicing kick taps until they bleed this week.

@jc fair points but I don't agree. At the moment that back three is our best. Naholo is the best 14, he gives us gainline and can finish, why everyone picks on everything he does is beyond me. We look potent when he and Reiko are on wings.
Smith is killing it at fullback. I thing is the organisation he does on attack and d, blows Barrett and Mackenzie out of water!! If is a link man and another set of eyes which is why he is a leader in the team, when he plays wing that is lost. I have always thought that BB is next best fullback. Just my thoughts

I thought Cane was MOM with Savea close by. The starting props were not far behind. One wee worry for me was some players seeming a bit distracted or niggly at times. Unusual blemishes for Taylor, and Ioane can improve in that area. Some nice touches from the midfield and good all-round kicking were positives.

I'm obviously a bit one-eyed, but I think the unusually high amount of niggle that the AB's engaged in, especially from players who never engage in that rubbish like Taylor, Crotty etc, suggests to me that the Pumas were up for a fight and were provoking us throughout the game. The fact that the home broadcasters never showed any of the niggle, in particular the lead up, also suggests that Puma players were baiting us. The All Blacks do not normally try and fight teams.

The big units for Pumas like the their no. 5 are always niggly, that is just the way they play the game and always have, but that shitbag Sanchez at 10 has to be one of the most annoying little shits going. He really should be playing at 9 with his attitude...

@jc With his peppy pass he would be a good second half sub for us.

Terrible performance by the ref which did nothing to repair the reputation of French officials.

Good Old School test win by the All Blacks built on being better than the opposition at set piece and the breakdown. I thought Ardie Savea and Karl Tu'inukuafe were excellent.

Annoying as he is I think he's actually improved as a rugby player and has added a decent running game that hasn't always been apparent. Still, I'd like to see BBBR clean him out at a ruck for the shits and giggles.

I haven't read the comments yet but my main observation was that this was the first test I can remember when you could say Harris' throwing was better than Taylor's.
