In other (rather embarrassing) news, South Africa is now ranked 7th, the lowest since the ranking system was implemented in 03.
Coetzee is bullish on the Boks chances since this year, he's had time to plan where they are going to be training, and how their bags are being transported:
"I'm done with the planning. The logistical planning of where we're flying with which airlines we're using and where we're staying ... that's done," Coetzee said, adding that he even knows where the Boks are training on their European tour in November.
I think that is the job description of a logistics manager, but that's just me..
Interesting thing is that the RWC19 draw is taking place on 10 May, before the Boks have had a chance to show the world how well Coetzee's logistics planning has revolutionised his teams play. The targets will be an average of the cumulative representation across all three formats in a season.

In order to reach a number of those targets serious changes will need to be made, and you can’t help but feel that various sporting codes are really going to struggle.Whether or not Afriforum have any success in their endeavours remains to be seen, but interesting times ahead for South African sport.

It's actually not too difficult to come up with a reasonably-realistic scenario of results where SA sinks to 10th... which would be fucking sad for the entire "rugby world". -

If we're to go purely by the world rankings then you would also have to consider the rankings of both England and NZ and then takes those rankings away to get a net score.
In which case:-
Now they've equaled our streak, it is possible to compare the world ranking of the opposition at the time of each game, to determine whose streak is "better".
The sum world ranking of the 18 teams we defeated is 120. England's is 131.
So our streak was vs significantly better opposition on average - as I tell my dickhead pom mates who keep bringing up the fact we played Namibia/Georgia during ours, and conveniently forgetting they played Uruguay during theirs.

Best outcome, IMO is if Ireland roll England this week, they sit on 18 with us, Ireland get a boost as giant killers again, NZ an England continue to roll on winning until they meet sometime in 2025 to win the best in the universe title.

By my calculations, if the All Blacks do another calendar year 100% wins, they'll be on 17 in a row on 25.11.2018.
They will deserve a lot of plaudits if so....beaten France, Aus, South Africa, Ireland, England along the way.
What are the odds? -
