Exodus 2018

It looks like Teddy Stanaway is no longer in the All Blacks 7s squad and - if I'm not reading too much in the hash tag #aurevoir - he's off to France. I haven't been able to find out where he is going to play and whether he's indeed going overseas.
Final day putting the @nz7s_ jersey on for me. This team has done more for me than just rugby. The people I’ve met, places I’ve been and experiences I’ve had, I could never have dreamed of as a kid. A journey with memories and friendships I’ll hold onto for life! Thank you to everyone that had a hand in my journey past and present, I hope I did you’s proud. #aurevoir

Jordie Barrett only signing for 1 year is a worry...
-
@billy-tell Yes I note they quote rugby as being a "business" hmm it makes you think doesn't it I can remember when people would play for the love of the game....makes me wonder how serious Jordie is about actually playing rugby as a career - not a career path

Might be keeping his options open for a move to the Crusaders. Is BB signed beyond the RWC? If he goes maybe Jordie would be keen to play with Scott.

No, he isn't.

@pukunui I guess while the main contract is with NZR, in theory would there be a reason why a player couldnt sign with NZR for 3 years and have the opportunity to renegotiate thier super contract in a year?
THat said, would any super rugby team be keen to sign up to that deal?

Hasn't Crotty been signing one year deals for a while now? Maybe Jordie is just following his lead?
Yeah exactly. Crotty uses it as motivation. I'm sure there's plenty of different reasons a player only signs for a year.
-
1 News just finished their piece on them saying both players said they couldn't see themselves ever playing against the Hurricanes.

Crotty is a 29-year-old with a history of injuries.
Jordie Barrett is 21 with a long career in the All Blacks ahead of him. If he wants it.
Personally, I blame Hammett. Clearly the culture in the Hurricanes still isn't right from his time in charge . . .

And, his ‘only play for the Canes’ quote wasn’t quite that eithe (from the stuff article):
"I definitely can't play somewhere else next year. It's a club I love playing for, I've got a good bunch of mates here, I'm happy here so looking forward to the next year here at the Canes."
My guess is that he’s betting he’ll be first choice 15 by this time next year.

Why are we talking about Jordie in the Exodus thread? He really isn't going overseas any time soon.
Jesus wept.

For the Chiefs in 2019, Verney and Aumua are still unknown quantities while Nankivell hasn't exactly shone either. I doubt McNicol will fully recover from his concussion problems. ALB needs to stay at centre and not be moved to accommodate Wainui. So a quality 2nd 5 is needed to replace Ngatai.
