The very new names are Jack Jordan and Daniel Waite. Matoe and Johnstone have been playing Waikato club rugby and Ah Wong has Super rugby experience.
The significant point is the continued absence of several players: Falcon, Verney, Aumua, McNicol, Ardron, Boshier, Seu, Laulala, Kautai. But Ardron and Boshier might be back this weekend. Not much luck on the injury front, while Highlanders seem to have a full squad to choose from.
Maybe you didn't notice it, but Levi Aumua was named in the Ta$man squad for yesterday's preseason game against Counties.

I thought in 2nd half yesterday that Marty M was being prepared to start v Brumbies next week.
That’s them fucked then.

I've just watched a story on TV3. Tu’inukuafe said he is keen to stay at the Chiefs as loyalty is a big thing for him, and they gave him his chance. But he wants to be based in the same place all year so if he goes to the Highlanders then NH could lose him too. Would the Blues make a play for him?
I'm not sure what the situation is with Mitchell Graham and his contract, and then there is the concussion problem hanging over Hames. Graham could be at risk as Ross has youth and potential on his side.
-
More info in the Stuff article.
The Chiefs had six contracted props at season's start, with Nepo Laulala and Atu Moli locked in till the end of the 2020 season, Kane Hames and Sefo Kautai signed till 2019, with Mitchell Graham and Aidan Ross off contract after this campaign.

Sorry, but I’d be booting Mitchell and trying to keep the moustacheoud man mountain.
Absolutely.
We also don't know as much about Moli as the selectors do. The longer his problems continue the longer you'd have to think he will need to retire. -
One minor correction, Messam was born in Blenheim not Rotorua.
We'll have to acknowledge Liam when he comes onto the field instead of at the end of the match.

I presume St Paul's School is St Paul's Collegiate.
Not many kids there from small schools. If selections only pick from the "name" schools it destroys the chances of them to compete.

I'm following this game on Facebook, where they are posting clips of the game: https://www.facebook.com/pg/hstop200/posts/?ref=page_internal
According to that page, it's currently Chiefs U18 10 - 18 Junior Knights

It's now 17 - 18 to the Junior Knights. I find it easier to follow on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therealhstop200/
