Afghanistan start their first ever test today at Bangalore.
One of the most inspiring stories in sport I reckon. Only just over a decade since their national team first played a game at any level and now they're at the big table - albeit feeding off scraps

Central Districts not offering Jesse a contract for next season.
According to my quick look at Cricinfo, last year he scored 6th most runs in the Plunket Shield 640@71.
10th most runs in Ford Trophy (List A) 294@42
7th most in Super Smash 255@25

So this just happened.
English just smashed and stomped on the Aussie’s in the latest ODI
Scored 481, four hundred and fucking eighty one!
No surprise Australia couldn’t pull it off -
Just watched some highlights. 21 6’s, Hales was seeing it like a beach ball. If only they got to 500...

Scotland > England > Australia.
That has given me a horrible mental picture of @MN5 slumped over his keyboard in a post self-abuse stupor.

So Aussie get pumped again.
Doesn't feel right when Aus look hopeless at Cricket.
Feels fine to me!

Annual Bramble Bank cricket match in middle of Solent
Tony Greig's pitch report would have been interesting!
The annual Bramble Bank cricket match took place in the middle of the Solent in the early hours of Sunday 15th July. The sandbank near Cowes, off the Isle of Wight becomes visible once a year at the lowest tide. The event has been taking place since the 1950s. This year the Royal Southern Yacht Club from Hamble and the Island Sailing Club from Cowes gathered for the game along with a number of spectators who also braved the tide.
As usual, play stopped when the water came in. The Hamble side won with help of the England cricketer, Stuart Broad. He said it had been "... the most unique game of cricket I have ever been a part of. It’s fantastic to see cricket bringing local communities together to play the sport we all love in such a quirky location.”
