I know he plays for the Blues, but they should throw the ball to the Rieko guy

You are offside if you are in front of a team mate who last played the ball and have not been put onside. He was put onside by being put onside before he played it. I thought so live and it proved to be true on replay.
Will need to look this one up. You can be put into side by a team mate who dropped the ball a second ago?
-
@rancid-schnitzel It doesn't, but the point is that a player after a knockon is offside because he is in front of a team mate who last played the ball.

Frustrating half. We haven't adapted to the ref, and A Smith's backchat hasn't helped there.
Way way too many basic handling errors too.
Jordie our best on the park so far. Excellent under the high ball (unlike the rest of the team) and looking very dangerous on attack.
We should be taking the points on offer and grinding them down. This isn't Super Rugby.

Playing Cane and Whitelock isn’t working. Squire is apparently out there, but we’ve got no go forward beyond Scott Barrett.
Shit decisions by a bunch of senior players, including the captain, and a midfield who look like they met today.
First game and all that, but this is fucking shit.

Yes. but no need to look it up. I just quoted the relevant law.

But he was offside when the player played the ball - forward. So, he’s retreating to get it. I can’t see how he isn’t offside.
Because he was put onside because an onside player (the ball who last played the ball) moved past him.
To be clear, he was offside, but by the time he played the ball he wasn't offside any longer.

Yep looses aren't doing shit.

We have been on top but the French defence worries us. It means we will have to show a bit of patience in this half to break them down. I think we haven't been too bad. We have surrendered field position at bad times to turnovers and penalties. The positive is that our ruck ball has been lightning fast.

@kiwimurph Squire, when he has had the ball, has made some yards but I know who you are thinking about.
