@machpants I'm not really following the numbers at the end.. What do they mean?
Yellows/Reds last year
Four sets of numbers and three teams? Or am I being blind? And...England?
I'm guessing it's the numbers for each team, over their respective seasons...
NZ got 8/1
Eng got 1/0
Boks got 1/1
Ireland got 3/0
...?
(Although - it took me a fair bit of time to figure it out myself) -

Out of interest I checked to see if there were any multiple offenders. SBW was the red, and the yellow cards were Kaino, B Barrett, Todd, Read, SBW, Cane, Crockett and Whitelock.

Not sure SBW yellow ought to count, being a technical card for trying to use a league stunt in a rugby test?

Those statistics only mean something relative to the number of games. However I imagine all teams played roughly the same number of games.

I thought this was a nice summary of things on Frizell vs Akira from Hansen that not everyone might have seen or heard.
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12056403
But ultimately it's Frizzell's desire on the field that they like the most. When he has played for the Highlanders, he's made himself visible and high impact. "We have noticed him all season really," says Hansen. 'He fits the mould of players that the All Blacks have used in the past. He's very assertive, he's got plenty of energy and he carries well. He's got the right intentions when he's got the ball and he's got the right intentions when he's not got the ball. "And the reason why we picked him and not Akira [Ioane] is because his intentions without the ball are really strong. He's physical, he wants to make big tackles. He wants to put himself about the park and intimidate people in a positive way and that is what we have to grow in Akira. "When Akira has ball in hand he's world class. But the rest of what we need him to do is in the learning process but that's okay because he's only 22. He's a young man and he'll get there."

So Frizell is more assertive off the ball in his 34 minutes per game than Akira in his 80 minutes ... I guess that's a summary.

@nepia They are looking for a Collins/Kaino type defender in the loose forwards it seems. That's not really Akira - he uses his strength to hold up or pull others down. I'm not convinced you can 'learn' it either - you either have it or you don't.
-
@KiwiMurph the way they talk about Frizell you'd think he was good enough to hold down a starting spot at the Landers. Mauger must have a blind spot...
-
Don't get me wrong about Frizell though, TBH I haven't really seen him play at all this year so can't really comment. Be great if he turned out to be the next Kaino, God knows we need it if flat-track-bully Squire is next in line.

Highlanders have some good loosies, Squire and Dixon etc. I don't have an issue with Frizell being picked on potential - he looked bloody good against the Blues when he scored a hat trick - certainly looked to have something special. My main issue is he is a blatant poach and should be playing for Tonga.
