Crusaders vs Waratahs

Also from reddit: Moody's forearm (not elbow?) seems to hit Beale's chest (not his head). May depend on camera angle; obviously, we don't have other angles. Would also need more than one frame. Whatever the case may be, it's not the kind of thing I like seeing in rugby, but it may affect the type of offending he'd be cited for (if cited at all & entry-level of the sanction).

@Stargazer Nothing in it.
Too early.....

@act-crusader Frame by frame, it looks less serious than I initially thought. The square frame used on reddit is also a bit misleading, because you cannot see the movement from Beale before that first frame. If you look at it in the YouTube video, you can see that Beale first moves in the direction of Moody and then suddenly stops at the same time as Moody moving forward (Beale standing in-between him and the posts). What makes it look ugly is Moody leading with the forearm/elbow. If he had just fended him off with his hand, there would be absolutely nothing in it.

Would you still think the same if was Akira elbowing Evans?

Link here to Moody elbow
That's hopeless. Even if he'd just gently pushed him in the chest, how the fuck does that try causing obstruction get let fly. It was probably 'immaterial'.

Don't be such a dickhead. Moody should be - and has been - cited. The only reason why I said it looked less serious than in real time/speed is that the first impact seems to be with the chest, not the head/neck. I've also said that there may be other camera angles that we haven't seen. The footage that we are able to see isn't conclusive, but it looks bad. Do you always only read the first sentence of a post or do you suffer from dyslexia?

So what do we reckon he'll get?
4 weeks for an early guilty plea, discounted by 2 weeks for good record, mitigating factors and showing remorse?
-
@taniwharugby If I had to guess, they'd start with 6 weeks and it would end in a 3 week suspension. Might be a week more or less.
Edited to add that my reason for expecting the mid range entry point of 6 weeks is that that was what they started at when they looked at Chance Peni's high tackle on Israel Dagg. Not the same offence, but similar in severity (albeit with a clearly different outcome; Beale could play on, while Dagg got injured and will be out of action for weeks). Peni ended up with a 5-week suspension because of his bad record.
The dangerous tackle from Conraad van Vuuren also started at 6 weeks and ended in a 3-week suspension. Also: Scott Higginbotham.

Start at 6 weeks.
-2 for guilty plea
-2 for good record
-2 for being a Crusader
-2 for being an All BlackSo two extra weeks' pay for him, courtesy of the judiciary, and a hasty apology for dragging him into this mess.
It’s been a while since the Aussie victim mentality had a chance to shine.
That was an ugly fend, he’s lucky it didn’t do any damage. I’d expect four weeks off for that, but the judiciary is a random number generator so it could be anything from 1-6
