Exodus 2018

@billy-tell isn't this thread about players that are leaving NZ to take up contracts overseas? I'd prefer to see them all listed rather than have someone worry if Billy tell will know the player.

Shane Smyth. Plays rugby for Sydenham U16B. Family moving to England. Another one bites the dust and joins the Exodus 2018.

@bovidae Big difference in pay! If NZR didn't allow players with shown loyalty to NZ to earn some good coin in Japan in the SR off-season and then return, they would just pack their bags and leave NZ permanently. At least this option keeps these players available for SR and keeps New Zealand's SR teams of a good standard.

These decisions highlight where the NPC sits in the rugby landscape.
This has been known for quite some time. It is nothing comp as far as NZRU see it. Not enough money to support SR and NPC so NPC will keep on withering up

So Biarritz have now in a timespan of just over two weeks signed three Kiwis!
First, Tyrone Elkington-MacDonald (Auckland), then Joseph Penitito (Hawke's Bay via Club Sportif Beaunois), and now Adam Knight. Not bad for Mitre 10 Cup players to play for one of the better Pro D2 clubs at the moment, who's still playing for promotion to the Top 14.

They will join Joe Bloggs to bring to 4 the number of Kiwis togging out for the French club.

That's 4 kiwis blocking the development of 4 French players

Why do you bother if you aren't interested in rugby?

@billy-tell
It makes seven NZ Origin players at the club now, not 4. -

Probably more interested than you bones. Even still actively play the game.
-
@billy-tell wow that's amazing! I wouldn't have the first clue about rugby and definitely don't play it at all. Guess it should be me coming on making shitty, snide, jealous sounding remarks on this thread huh.

@billy-tell what an odd comment...
You are on a Rugby forum, where you probably don't even know people outside of the internet and make assumptions about their rugby interests/participation?
You aren't in NZ right, so it'd be fair of me to assume you know jack shit about grass roots rugby in NZ?
