The Struggle Continues......
-
On the concrete these days I reckon I could do 15 just. With a reasonable downhill in there <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'll go do a 3 km on grass down the local oval in my fivefingers some time this week, and let you know how I do. -
To be honest I would be stoked to run 1500m on grass in 7:30. A bloke i used to coach tugby with is an exceptional, highly experienced PE teacher and athletics coach. Might enlist his services to teach me some basic technique.

I can run 10km on the treadmill in one hit nae bother now but to be truly functional I need to run at a decent clip even for short periods in the great outdoors.

I guess my goal is to run for shorter periods at a faster clip. Who wants to be stuck inside on a TM for sixty mins in the middle of summer watching Come Dine With Me Omnibus???? -
In my 'heyday' we used to do 1500m on grass (but in shoes) prior to 7's training and my best was about 6.50 (def well under 7, may have been a bit further under) dunno what I could do it in now...probably a bit over 7mins nowadays I reckon as I did 3km road/street run (just before christmas in a Santa Suit after a beer) in a bit over 16 mins.

Shit..... I'm even less convinced of my potential now. I will settle for
1km in under 5 minutes now! -
mate your TM times seem fine, I wouldnt take stock in my old times...I was lucky in that there was a bunch of mates and we all played for the same teams in touch, rugby, hockey, indoor soccer, indorr cricket, we socialised together, flatted, basically the only thing we didnt do together was women....
Finally got around to it!

Clocked the three in 14:46. With more training at that pace, I reckon I could crack 14. But as exercise, it isn't as effective as longer runs for me mentally or physically, and it's hard to change between the two regularly.

Grass was fairly firm with a couple of soft corners, but mown flat like the bloody Council insists on (silly buggers wonder why it dies off in winter). It was a good change from concrete, but running in an oval gets fkn boring... -
