    @antipodean

Alaimalo should be in that list right now.

BBBR what a playerr - takes 40 mins to play his way in after a late scratching from their previous outing, and takes on the entire Bulls team single-handedly in the 2nd 40...he was defo the difference between the teams

Had some errands to run this morning so only just caught up on replay and have avoided the thread..some thoughts

BBBR confirms suspicions that somehow Phar Laps DNA was implanted in him. Awesome showing.
Weber hasn't lost speed from that leg break.
The culture at the Chiefs hasn't changed much with the coaching change. They are never going to show a perfect game but get by on guts (and the bits of glory that come off).
The lesser squad members are stepping up big time. Never thought I would see Angus T play that well.
Alaimalo showed why you also need power in the 11 jersey at test level. Can't afford to get bundled out that easily in an international. Apart from that, excellent game.
Johnny F is growing in confidence. Thought ALB played a very Conrad type game tonight, which is a big plus in his development.
Wainui is providing good value and is taking his opportunities well.

That last try meant a two point table differential between the teams. Good on the Bulls for having a crack, but that will be interesting to see at the end of the round robin. (Bulls lost their BP and handed the Chiefs one after the buzzer)

Edit: have just read back in thread at it's quite funny the difference between reactionary comments during the game and assessment after a win 😉

I don't get the Weber criticisms. I thought his speed to the breakdown and generally good passing created the opportunity to get momentum and stay in the game. TTT made an excellent break and (apart from one shit pass) played well but not to the extent that he demanded selection over Weber. I guess the other thing he offers is less workload for the loosies. Having Weber and DMac in tandem creates a lot of need to clean up. That's a bonus in the last 20 as the forwards tire, just as the ABs would use TKB the same way.

Credit to the chiefs on there win,but really and truthfully to infringe that many times and not receive a yellow card for collapsing a maul must be some sort of record, personally the key moment for me was when the score was 28-21 the Bulls hard on attack and the maul gets pulled down.
Should have been a yellow card and we have all seen the impact of yellow cards on games thus far.
However I will give a huge ups to Brodie Retallick,he was massive for the Chiefs this evening.

I'm liking the way that Messam is giving a workmanlike performance but also picking a point in the game to step up big and drag everyone (except BBBR) forward. It may only be two or three big plays in a row but it makes a difference.

TTT just needs to get on the field earlier in the game. He looks good and showed some good signs late last season, but he still needs to build experience before he starts ahead of Weber.

Weber outplayed Pulu a week or so ago.

Weber played well in that game, but out playing Pulu is hardly a great achievement.

Can I just chuck my vote for MOTM for each June series for BBBR now to save myself some time.

Some great tries scored which has been a theme this season, I wonder what the average tries per game is compared to years gone by.

Some of those Bulls tries were pure class, the inside pass sure is creating problems for defences.

As mentioned earlier I think the Chiefs should have got a yellow for the constant infringing at maul time. The Bulls really dominated this area and the Chiefs resorted to illegal play to combat it.

That high shot was a red all night long. If he had connected it would have been brutal, the intent was clear so the fact he missed should be irrelevant.

I do wonder how the Chiefs will go this season, if they get any injuries to the ABs in the team they will struggle.

Lachlan Boshier has really stepped up this year. He was huge both in attack and defense. He is a bit skinny for a blindside flanker but has played on the openside before. A future AB contender ?

I like Retallick, but this is one of the gayest posts I’ve read on this forum.

I haven't read the comments yet but my thoughts after being at the game and watching a replay yesterday.

The main problem in the 1st half was the aimless kicking giving the dangerous Bulls back three the ball in space, none more so than the idiotic chip kick from Weber late in the half. With so little possession it made no sense to kick the ball away.

Fa'auli remains a liability in the midfield with his poor defensive reads. Wainui's lack of pace as a manufactured winger was also exposed.

On attack, players passing to teammates in a worse position than themselves and putting them under pressure was a common theme. The Chiefs didn't deal with the Bulls' rush defence in the 1st half. The three best passes all night were from Messam.

Much better in the 2nd half but I would be wanting Ngatai and a winger back ASAP. That Retallick guy is OK too!

I'm happy for Weber to continue to start but he was guilty of throwing some slow and loopy passes or high passes to Falcon and DMac which put them under heaps of pressure. Excellent cover defence though.

Agreed. He has had his issues at scrumtime in the past but an experienced SR player is a great replacement to have in the circumstances (no Laulala or Moli). Ta'avao played the full 80 mins too. I noticed he was vocal in the huddles so must be one of the on-field leaders.

First he can't stay loyal to a team, now he can't stay loyal to a gender.
