I did it in 15 mins before Xmas (12kph) but reckon with a thorough warmup I can shave time off that. Would love to do it in under 14.

I have some old Highlander fitness test results. Hoeft could do 3km in 12.30 and Meeuws 12.45. Not bad for plodders!

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest, "fatties" they may be but ( you fullas know more than me ) it still takes some fair old fitness to scrum, ruck and maul ( not to mention the flashy extras ) at the top level. -
This reminded me of your training style bro!! Fark me, one dude weighs 200kg!! what a monster!

That 200kg guy is 2.03m too, imagine trying to persuade him you're sober enough to get in the pub...... -

Whoa! Wicked. Those blokes make me feel like an anorexic stick insect. Awesome -
Nice work RB! back on that training buzz after the rugby pre-season session!!

What sort of numbers are you hitting on your weights bro? - has the 5*5 approach been increasing your lifts? You and JK seem to be fans, could be worth a crack aw! -

I don't lift balls out anymore, I do alot more cardio and hold back abit on the heavy tin to save my hips. But my 5RMs would be in the vicinity of Bench 130, Deadlift 180 Front Squat 160 -
Now I'm man enough to admit when another man's front squat is attractive! Dang RB, that is mean as. You must be pretty flexible (carrying on the man-love) through the hips (ahem) to keep vertical with that much tin loaded. Even if you are super duper strong you can't just muscle the weight up, one little sway forward and down it goes. Do standard squats cause more stress on your hips compared to F/S's?

Maintaining those numbers (let along whatever your 1RM's are) and being able to run 5-10km at a decent clip would be a good place to be. Doesn't sound like you are too far off! -

I don't back squat much anymore because it usually causes my munted neck discs to flare up. Sometimes I squat heavy (usually on a box) but mostly I only lift at about 70% of my 5RM. I'm also starting to deadlift using the trap bar now in favour of the Olympic bar.

My goals are to weigh mid 90s and be able to run 3km in under 15 mins on grass which would be a piece of piss for most blokes.

I get abit of gip from my hips and knees thesedays so the next chapter of my training life may well be to ditch the gym completely in favour of bodyweight, kettlebell & TRX workouts and using the local mountain tracks for all my future cardio.

Have also found squat and dead loads much harder to maintain because of all the running.
