The Struggle Continues......

I reckon you should change up for a month RB - hit some high rep stuff - 12-20 rep range. You body won't know what hit it. You may have to lower the weight a touch though.
I reckon you should wear pink fishnets through the Headhunters Pad.

I do plenty of high rep BW and KB stuff but might think about following suit in the gym. Maybe.

I have two specific 1RMs to knock off and then I might up reps. Goes against my mantra though that anything over 5 reps is cardio. -
To be honest I'm really enjoying my training everyday now. I'm not against change to
shock the body but at the same time if you're feeling good about your health, reaching your goals and still have a spring in your step why deviate from your routine.
-
I am enjoying my training at the moment too, and the stuff I do almost kills me (exageration I know... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> ) more often than not, and I know there is still alot of room for me to push harder as well.

Although I did change what I am doing slightly a few weeks back -

Because your body adapts to your routine and you make slower progress.
At the moment my progress is just fine. I'm lighter and stronger than I've been for 20 years. No need to change anything for the sake of it at this stage.

I have clear cut and attainable goals which are specific to me. If I was plateauing off course I would change. As it stands I'm actually doing more cardio than ever, doing plenty of KBs and BW circuits. Compared to what I used to do I've implemented plenty of variety. But I still enjoy lifting heavy twice a week as well.

After 39 years I also know my my body and capabilities pretty well. After three knee reconstructions high rep stuff to failure is the type of training that tends to see the twinges flare up. -
hey RB - have you tried a 3k run on the treadmill? Like the old rugby fitness tests? I might give it a go, just to see what I can do! I remember Hoefty whacking one out as an 18 year old at Valley in about 13:30. I was always stoked to get 15 minutes (not that I did many, had a lot of 'niggles' back in those days). But reckon I could whack out a 13:30 on the treadmill at the moment, maybe...!! Although left calf giving me a bit of niggle at the moment.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest, "fatties" they may be but ( you fullas know more than me ) it still takes some fair old fitness to scrum, ruck and maul ( not to mention the flashy extras ) at the top level. -
