Tamefuna would have the weight advantage. Same height but Tameifuna would have bigger hands and boxing experience.

    @mikedogz

The french article of this I read on the weekend adds a few more details. Apparently Chris Masoe, collected them both in the morning as he is the player liaison now for the team. Hes come a long way since getting hit in the head with a hand bag and good on him.

Also while Afatia isn't pressing charges the French police may still charge him as apparently he was abusive towards them. Quoted as saying "Fuck French police"

Racing just can't seem to keep their players out of the headlines. Really starting to worry about the culture at the club. I think its going to hurt their recruiting in the future.

Here is the original article for anyone who may be interested

    Oct 3, 2017  /  /hauts-de-seine-92/colombes-92700/

Stade Francais, playing away from home, are getting dealt to by a Russian club called something like Krasny Yar Krasnoyarsk in the first game in their pool of the European Challenge Cup with less than five minutes to go. That's scarcely believable.
EDIT: And as I write this the Ruskies hoof over another penalty to take a ten point lead very close to the end.

The Frogs get a late try to close the gap to 34 - 29 at the end but really that result has to be humiliating to them. I note the Ruskies played a loose head by the name of S Fukofuka and a first five named F Apikatoa so maybe a NZ connection there (but if not then certainly a Pacific Island influence). On the other side T Ensor (fullback) and P Williams (second five) look suspiciously like NZ names in the Stade lineup.

Krasny Yar Krasnoyarsk - Stade Francais Paris 34:29

That name rang a bell when I saw it. Tony Ensor is a current player Kiwi and a former Irish player. Both played rugby. At fullback. One got 22 caps for Ireland - remember meeting him a couple of times and seeing him play in the seventies. He scored a memorable “soccer try” once with various team mates dribbling with grubber kicks all the way down the pitch against France and Ensor picked up at end and scored.

For some strange reason I recall Krasnoyarsk from an interview that Brendan Telfer did with David van der Sandt who was his regular correspondent on matters South African.

He had some sort assignment there. Seems like it's a bit of an enclave of rugby.

Dunno why that sticks in my mind. It would have been 15 years ago. Must have been the unusual nature of the location.

Krasnoyarsk is where Enesei STM play. Connacht had a famous match with them a couple of years ago.

Stade aren’t the only team to have been upstaged by them.

Think I’ve posted this before on the slightly cold weather of -30

Alby Mathewson has signed a contract with Toulon (one year + one year optional)!

I knew he was looking for another club while playing for King Country, but I never thought he would end up at one of the big European clubs! Good on him!

Ouch! Just saw this video of Angoulême player Lucas Martin Caneda taking an opponent from Mont-de-Marsan out of the air in the French ProD2 competition. It's a miracle that the tackled player was able to walk off the field by himself, considering the way he landed. Obviously, a red card. He got an eight week suspension.

So I watched my fair share of Champions Cup rugby this weekend

Glasgow vs Leinster. Dave Rennie's side went down at home to make it 0 from 2 with 0 points and already all but eliminated. For Glasgow we had Callum Gibbins, who was solid but got a nasty head clash at the end. For Leinster we had Michael Bent and Jamison Gibson-Park off the bench.

Munster vs Racing 92. A crap crap game, which Munster ended up winning comfortably enough. For Munster we had Rhys Marshall and for Racing we had Tameifuna, a geriatric Dan Carter and even more geriatric Joe Rococoko.

La Rochelle vs Ulster: great game to watch, Charles Piutau was dangerous every time he touched the ball and would still walk straight back into my AB team. For la Rochelle, Victor Vito was also excellent and would start ahead of Squire for mine. We also had Jason Eaton, Rodney Ah You, Sean Reidy etc. La Rochelle powered over Ulster and look a good beat to go reasonably deep into the tournament.

Hartley has plenty of previous which could count against him but for me, I feel completely accidental and something of a non-event.

Hartley is a prick, but that was an accident. Happy with the yellow tho, as he of all people should know where his arms are flailing.

On the other hand Slimani got one over Hartley too, IMO this should have been aa red card, coming in from the side, targeting the head with shoulder, really surprised if he doesn't cop a couple of weeks.

    lol. Hartley guilty as sin.

That's a flying clear out where his hand just happened to smack a guy in the chops. Hartley was cleaning out thin air in front of him but his outstretched hand makes perfect contact, that is well aimed.

I'd expect a big ban, actually.

If there was someone that Hartley was actually cleaning out then he could argue his way out of it. Otherwise that's a flying punch disguised as a flying flop over a ruck.

@rapido While you can never rule out intent/stupidity with Hartley, you can clearly see that the guy he was aiming to clear out stepped away, leaving him with thin air to clear. The flailing arm leaves him open to criticism certainly. On viewing from in front of Hartley it hardly seems to make contact with Slimani but from a different angle you can see it catches him under the nose, so he cops some septum shock. Not nice.
