North Harbour vs. Canterbury

Hodgman wasn't even the starting LHP for the Blues. Manu was the preferred option. One good indication of Hodgman's abilities as a scrummager is his performance vs the BIL. When Manu was on the field, the Blues scrum went OK. When Hodgman came in, the Blues scrum began to back pedal. Hodgman is a very poor scrummager but his work in the loose is OK : mobility, work rate, solidity in defence.

@kiwimurph I must admit I'm a bit disappointed. I expected more from Harbour and hoped for an 80 minute battle.
There were a number of Harbour forwards struggling in that second half and the Cantab backs were exposing the gaps.
Very surprised at how passive the Cantabs were in that first 25 minutes. On their heels in defence.
Good to see us turn it around though and play with a bit more urgency and pace on both sides of the ball.
I'm calling it, FABGB 😎

@act-crusader Big call! As a wing or a fullback?
I'm not on that bandwagon ...yet!

I actually think Bridge has lost form as the year has gone on. He had an absolute shocker against BIL and has been up and down for Canterbury despite their dominance. Definitely one to keep an eye on but think he needs some more seasoning.
Agree. Terrible against the BIL and disappointing since in my opinion.

Terrible? Are you serious, too many keyboard Warriors who have never played the game. There is definitely an anti Canterbury sentiment on this forum. Tall Poppy Syndrome guys, Bridge has had his ups and downs but terrible is a poor word.

That's hilarious. Saying Bridge was terrible in that game is in no way anti-cantab. Just like saying someone is poor at scrummaging as they're going backwards isn't either.

Although there's definitely a lot of anti-Cantab/Crusader sentiment on this board (due to a numerical majority of Blues and Chiefs supporters), the above comments about Bridge in no way are an expression of that sentiment. If it were, you'd never be able to critique a player without accusation of bias, which would be silly.
You must also have noticed that the language used by some posters on this forum is often exaggerated or out-right rude, depending on what you're used to. Some people use words to imply something (a typical Kiwi habit), while others use the same words to express what they really mean. Welcome to the digital era!
As to Bridge, I agree with @KiwiMurph. Bridge was awesome in the beginning of the Super Rugby season, but as the season progressed, he started to struggle, particularly on defence. He has crazy speed and knows how to score great tries, but still has a lot of work-ons. Which is all good. He's just a puppy in SR terms.

Bridge is going to have some ups and downs but I think there is huge upside in his game with genuine wing/fullback versatility. Genuine pace helps also.

@act-crusader No doubt he was showing some irresistible form early doors, his form dropping off a cliff was rather disappointing. If he gets that back and is consistent then he won't be able to be ignored. Reminds me of Tom Marshall, just a tad more electric.
