Drummond is making a good case for that third AB halfback spot.

Now, that's why I hate these sideline interviews during the game. That female reporter was interviewing someone and right at that moment Harbour scores. Let them do those damn interviews during the break or after the game! Glad the camera was still following the game, or we'd have missed it.

@kiwimurph I must admit I'm a bit disappointed. I expected more from Harbour and hoped for an 80 minute battle.

I went to another pub with a friend after halftime.

Sounds like I didn't miss much.

Here's to a rematch this year!

Gutted for Harbour, but not surprised though.. was expecting Canterbury to do well in the second half... as they've been blitzing teams in the second half in most games

Someone on this board was talking up Alex hodgeman as all black quality recently.

I hope they are watching this game, soft as shit in the scrum. That's why he never got game time for the crusaders

You'd certainly be re-thinking that position. Hames might have had his problems vs the Boks, but Hodgman was up against a chubby kid from the North Shore and regularly going backwards.

Drummond wouldn't be a bad choice for the third halfback spot. Probably got a narrow points victory over Hall based on his work after half time, though between tries he had several untidy minutes.

They'd have to be looking at both. Personally, I'd take Drummond ahead of Hall because he looks more composed and makes very few mistakes. Not bad attributes for a third halfback.

The chubby kid from the North Shore didn't last that long, needs to work on his fitness. The whole first half, Canterbury were off their game, come the second half Red and Black dominated. The Harbour forwards were exhausted, Hodgman put in 70 minutes solid game from him.

The Canterbury pack got it going in the second half, Harbour had no amswer.

    If you ignore his scrummaging.

At times the Canterbury scrum was going backwards as fast in the second half as they were in the first.

I think you are blind to good forward play mate or you just don't like Canterbury. I'm from The Naki and we are hoping to uplift the Log O Wood. The Canterbury packs fitness is what I have heard we are concerned about. Hodgman has put in some big playing time that says a lot for a big man. I was hoping for more from Eves and Chubby Kid but they did not deliver. Don't worry mate Taranaki will show you how.

@number9 Actually, I've spent a good part of my life in Canterbury and they're my second team.

But, if you think Hodgman or the Canterbury forwards went well in the scrum today, you might need to give Sky a ring about your reception! 🙂

Hodgman wasn't even the starting LHP for the Blues. Manu was the preferred option. One good indication of Hodgman's abilities as a scrummager is his performance vs the BIL. When Manu was on the field, the Blues scrum went OK. When Hodgman came in, the Blues scrum began to back pedal. Hodgman is a very poor scrummager but his work in the loose is OK : mobility, work rate, solidity in defence.

There were a number of Harbour forwards struggling in that second half and the Cantab backs were exposing the gaps.

Very surprised at how passive the Cantabs were in that first 25 minutes. On their heels in defence.

Good to see us turn it around though and play with a bit more urgency and pace on both sides of the ball.

    I'm calling it, FABGB 😎

Yes, you're right, it was Ofa T but this doesn't change at all Hodgman's performance that day.

@act-crusader Big call! As a wing or a fullback?

I'm not on that bandwagon ...yet! 🙂

I actually think Bridge has lost form as the year has gone on. He had an absolute shocker against BIL and has been up and down for Canterbury despite their dominance. Definitely one to keep an eye on but think he needs some more seasoning.

Agree. Terrible against the BIL and disappointing since in my opinion.

Terrible? Are you serious, too many keyboard Warriors who have never played the game. There is definitely an anti Canterbury sentiment on this forum. Tall Poppy Syndrome guys, Bridge has had his ups and downs but terrible is a poor word.
