This thread is far less pornographic than the title suggests.

Probably a little confusing for our Canadian friends also.

No one really has Canadian friends do they?

Like the old quiz game - name 10 famous Canadians, only the bloody Trudeau lot have made that one a little easier.

Bieber, Shania, Shatner, Celine, Joni, Cohen, Neil, Drake, Jordan B. Petersen, and, ummm, ooooh, one more, okay, Gretzky.

To prove the point I can't work out at a glance who some of those people are.

Justin Bieber (famous with the kids, allegedly)
Shania Twain (biggest selling record by female artist ever, and still gorgeous for an old chick)
William Shatner (played Captain Kirk, amongst others)
Celine Dion (huge with housewives, allegedly)
Joni Mitchell (maybe too avant garde for your tastes?)
    Leonard Cohen (dead now, halelujah!)
Neil Young (godfather of grunge, hippie)
Drake (modern hip-hop recording artist, supposedly popular)
Jordan B. Petersen (anti-christ to Social Justice Warriors, and probably the biggest star of the lot)
    Wayne Gretzky (Canadians play hockey)

William Shatner (played Captain Kirk, amongst others) Not allowed as no-one knows he's a canuck

Good luck with the Belgians. Oh and Poirot doesn't count.

Massive overachievers in Comedy and Music although for everything after Cohen, Young & Guess Who they have a lot to answer for (Lavigne, Morrisette, Nickelback, Drake, Buble, Dion, Snow's Informer etc etc).

With the exception of a couple of comedians listed who were particularly prominent during most Fern members hey day, almost every other person listed is/was the highest paid actor/actress/director in either TV or movies at some point in the past 20 years.

You're kind of missing the point.

They need to be well known AS a Canadian. I wouldn't have had a clue a lot of those were Canucks.

eg if you asked average Joe what nationality Chong is they should instantly know he is Canadian.

It could be the missed penalty, but I'm pretty sure the 'kick' referred to in the book is the missed touch. I could be wrong though!

That is 'the kick', but there were plenty of howlers including that 10 minutes.

Jegga said NZ castigated him over one kick, they didn't. They didn't even castigate him.

Where the fuck were you in 2010 and 2011? Clearly not in NZ.

Good read, bit of a pity they picked out the most obvious bit but I guess that's to be expected. Might have to buy it.

You'd hope the dickheads who gave him shit eventually took a look in the mirror and stopped being dicks but probably not.

Saying he wasn't up to AB standard and they wanted him dropped isn't castigating him, nor is saying he was primarily responsible for blowing that game.

Watch Weight of the Nation they dig up as much archival footage as they can and as cutting as it gets is Richard Loe saying something to the effect of 'that's it, he isn't the answer'. Radio Sport calls were all along the same lines - no one was saying he should have his contract ripped up, nor Donald be sent home from the tour (I wanted Slade to replace the injured Sivivatu though) or worse. If they did I would love to see it.

Contrast that with what Ted got after 2007 - front page calling for him to be guillotined, the drivel Deaker and co went on. That is much closer to castigation.

Obviously can't speak for the odd drunk idiot he ran into - but at that point it's more about the individual than the nation.

It makes for a better story, but if you can't say a player played poorly on their 15th chance then we may as well pack up and give it away. He isn't the first AB to play poorly and get called out on it, Jonah got it on debut as a teenager FFS.

Uh, what? "Watch Weight of the Nation." Why? It was only 7 years ago, I don't need to watch a 90 minute documentary to remind me of what happened (which was barely even covered in it anyway). It wasn't quite as bad as what Henry got in 2007 (and for years afterwards by some) but it was pretty close. It went on for months and was pathetic.

Hansen has been very lucky that Australia are so poor. If we were losing to them, all this new age relaxed AB fan nonsense would be right out the window.

The ABs had better be pretty bloody good for the rest of the year after being so mediocre against the Lions.
