Euron is obviously quite the warrior. No mean feat to beat the Dornish chicks like that. Makes their boasting about what they were gonna do to the Mountain pretty pathetic though.

Pretty good episode, really starting to ramp up now.
The attack on Yara's fleet was interesting in that 1) how did Euron know what their plans were? 2) Is the Dornish lady his 'gift' to Cercei? 3) As noted it seems unlikely he would be able to build such a massive fleet and destroy them so easily - maybe some of that can be explained with Euron's legendary status as a captain?
I get the feeling when Dany finds out she will decide being Queen of Ashes is better than not being Queen at all. Shit could get real very fast there.
I really hope the Nymeria scene means we are going to get more Direwolf action later in the series, perhaps she has a role to play against the White Walkers later on?
Also, will Littlefinger tell Sansa about Jon's heritage while he is away? Would make it interesting on his return if he has no rightful claim to the throne.
Missandei getting the girls out was a clear highlight, she is one flawless specimen of female.
An excellent episode, continuing off where Ep. 1 started showing the various factions planning. But then as with all wars, a good plan is worth nothing when the first shots are fired and Cersie through Euron did just that!
I'll take a crack at your questions:

how did Euron know what their plans were?
Well yet to be revealed but one can only think of two possibilities -
a. that there was someone within Dany's inner circle who has given this away or more likely
b. They, Cersie and her supporters including Euron, knew that Dany and her entourage were located at Dragonstone and that the fleet belonging to Yara and Theon were there and they simply staked out the likely path they would take
a. creates more intrigue and story lines but... there are probably enough story lines already that need to be resolved in the next 11(possibly more?) episodes -
Is the Dornish lady his 'gift' to Cercei?
That was definitely my guess as she is ones of the those that Cercei clearly hates with a passion... however, I think as @Rancid-Schnitzel mentioned previously, in the books Euron has a special horny called Dragonbinder which is said to be able to control dragons and I immediately thought of that horn when this was said in Ep. 1. But it's most likely that it's the Dornish chick. -

That!... One of the biggest plot holes thus far as so many have mentioned... what a year or less to build a thousand ships on a group of rocky islands famed for it's small population and the lack of trees... this part disappoints but oh well.
As for Euron. In the books, Euron is basically a psychopath who was sent away from Iron Islands after Robert's Rebellion. After expulsion he sails and raids far away lands including going places where most sailors fear. In that time he is said to have done many crazy things including spent time in Quarth with the Warlocks (who stole Dany's young dragons in an much earlier season).

Thoughts on Ep. 2
So yeah, what a cool sea battle but apart from what has been mentioned already (such as it being impossible for Euron and his loyal Ironborn to have built a thousand ships).
The scene where team Dany are planning around that table (which dates back to Aegon Targaryen's original conquest of Westeros) was interesting. Love your point @MN5 about the 3 males all being castrated and only the Imp having his intact.
Like I mentioned before, such a great plan but like with all plans in war, they most often go out the window with the first shot, and what a shot that was by Cersei.
One point, given that Yara's fleet were sailing to Dorne to pick up the Dornish army, they would have only been lightly manned and not had a complement of fighters on board and therefore easy prey for Euron.
One big disappointment, that what was building for an excellent love scene between Yara and Ellaria, a great opportunity for some girl on girl action with twice the boobs on display but alas, Euron ruined the moment.
A personal huge disappointment... the sand snakes dying! Oh to have been Bronn and being forced to look at those perfect breasts. Why kill two young things with perfect boobs when Euron could have just captured them.
(The eurasian girl, the actress who is also in Iron Fist, is just perfect and I was hoping that there would have been some of her breasts on show but that's never going to happen now... damn you Euron!!!)One thing to note here, in the books, Euron isn't known as a fighter but more of a schemer and planner and let's others do his fighting for him so this Euron is quite different.
The biggest consequence of this battle is that this will now force Dany's hand to unleash the Dothraki, Unsullied and her Dragons on the Westerosi and therefore may result in exactly what Cersei wanted, the undecided Lords to gather behind her.
Does anyone else think that if this was a leak from the White House (oops, I mean Dragonstone) who might have had the motive... anyone else thinking Olenna Tyrell who's council to Dany was effectively... you have dragons, use them!
What this also means is that a significant source of fighters for Dany has now been removed as Dorne now will effectively be a non-entity for the rest of the series I'm guessing.
Which means as I said before, she will now have to rely more on the Dothraki, Unsullied and Dragons but also the fighting forces that the King of the North can bring to bear.
That was definitely Nymeria, not Ghost as Ghost is fully white with red eyes (almost albino). I think it's just that Nymeria and her bond with Arya has been broken after she was sent away by Arya to protect her after biting Joffery all the way back in Season 1. Arya was throwing stones at Nymeria to force her away and since that time, as mentioned before, Nymeria has been leading a pack of normal wolves all during the war of the 5 kings and after.
Nymeria remembers Arya but that she no longer has that bond. Which is a shame as a lot of fans want to see the last 2 of the remaining Stark direwolves be reunited as the remaining Stark children are being reunited.
Arya heading north is very interesting, wonder if she will meet Jon on his way to White Harbour? Unlikely so it will just be a reunion with Sansa.
No Bran this Ep, so is he still up at the wall with the Night's Watch or will he start making his way to Winterfell? Funny that there hasn't been a raven sent from the wall to Winterfell to advise that Bran is back!
Other points, nice to see Lord Tarly in the mix. He's is a legendary fighter and I think he'll end up being torn in his allegiances between Cersei and Samwell's side.
With Euron's move, it is looking like as of right now, Cersei has control of the battle but it's only early.
Speaking of Sam, he will no doubt save Ser Jorah as Jorah the Andal still has a significant part to play in things to come. He's been such an integral part of Dany's journey so far, he can't just die of his greyscale!
Oh yeah and Missandei is damn near perfect! I didn't delete that episode so that I might go back and revisit that scene a time or two as watching with Mrs WC doesn't allow for pausing, rewinding and pausing some more.

With Arya, am guessing with her training as a 'faceless man' or whatever it is, Nymeria can see the change, so recognises her but sees her differently too.
I think the battle was a let down as surely at a time of war, so close to Kings Landing they would have been better prepared for an attack.
So Orlena may have leaked the plan to spur Dany on to use her Dragons....I can buy that

Interesting with Tarly possibly fighting for Cersei. In the books his region is being ravaged by Euron and co and he's also at the head of a Tyrell army in KL. I just can't see him fighting for the Lannisters.

Nerds on the interwebby have noticed a big clue as to how the white walkers will get past the wall.
If you look closely at the opening sequences showing Westeros, the sea at Eastwatch has frozen over which would allow them to simply walk around the wall.When Jorah Mormont leaves the Citadel my guess is that Sam will travel with him as the Maisters will be pissed off that he disobeyed them. If Jorah is there when Jon Snow arrives he may well recognise his father's sword and establish a level of trust. Sam may then give Jon the Tarly sword as a replacement.
There will be something to do with the swords however it works. They are spread around in the wrong hands at the moment. Brienne has (half of) the Stark sword. Joffrey had the other half and we haven't been told where it is. Sam has the Tarly sword, Jon has the Mormont sword. -

You can see that old Tarly is conflicted. A sworn bannerman to the Tyrell's yet the Tyrell's are, according to Cersei at least, in open rebellion.Now that's one thing I'm confused about... Given what happened when Cersei blew up the Great Sept of Baelor she killed many including the heirs of house Tyrell. But Lady Olenna wasn't present as she had been warned by her granddaughter Margaery.
So now, how exactly is that meant to be considered in open rebellion against the Iron Throne? Cersei has been banging on now for two episodes about the Tyrells and Dorn yet they haven't really done anything wrong as yet... well maybe not being blown up into ash counts in Cersei's eyes.
Sure, they have/are aligning themselves with Dany but technically, that doesn't mean rebellion as Dany has not yet made any threats or taken any actions against Cersei, that I can recall. Which all hardly constitutes "open rebellion".
I did like how old Tarly referred to Cersei's way of dealing with those she doesn't like.
So which way old man Tarly goes will be interesting to watch as I think he'll originally side with the Iron Throne but switch allegiances to Dany after being convinced by Samwel who will finally win his father's love he so desperately craves for

Even with the Baratheon brothers dead there must be other relatives with a claim. It should also be noted that she not only decimated the Tyrells but also the leading Lannister (Kevan). So she's killed a very popular queen as well as the heads of two great houses. She also blew up a holy place and its leaders. Who the hell is going to support, let alone accept her claim?

Iirc the Tyrell army was in Kings Landing. So there are the Tyrell bannermen plus the Kevan loyalists, plus the people. Remember that Jamie wasn't even there when she was crowned so it fucks me how she could do it.

Just read that G. R. R. Martin has now said (maybe) sometime in 2018 for The Winds of Winter and according to a recent blog entry, there may also be a second book in 2018.

"(He George R. R. Martin has been) telling readers that his story Sons of the Dragon, set in the Westeros universe, would be included in the new anthology The Book of Swords, coming out in October, Martin also revealed that he was planning two volumes of his âfake historiesâ of the Targaryen kings, from the Game of Thrones universe. These will be called Fire and Blood.âThe first of those will cover the history of Westeros from Aegonâs Conquest up to and through the regency of the boy king Aegon III (the Dragonbane). That one is largely written, and will include (for the first time) a complete detailed history of the Targaryen civil war, the Dance of the Dragons,â wrote Martin.
The first volume of Fire and Blood is planned for late 2018 or early 2019, while the second, âwhich will carry the history from Aegon III up to Robertâs Rebellion, is largely unwritten, so that one will be a few more years in coming,â wrote Martin.
âWhether Winds or the first volume of Fire and Blood will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018 ⌠and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream,â he added."
So fingers crossed but holding my breath I will not be.
I wish he'd concentrate on one thing at a time.
One thing I don't get is how Cercei managed to become Queen. She only married into the Baratheon family and wouldn't have been heir. Even with the Baratheon brothers dead there must be other relatives with a claim. It should also be noted that she not only decimated the Tyrells but also the leading Lannister (Kevan). So she's killed a very popular queen as well as the heads of two great houses. She also blew up a holy place and its leaders. Who the hell is going to support, let alone accept her claim?
I think it is more who is going to stop her. I agree with the person below (can't be arsed to look again - too lazy) that reckons it will be the lover that's a brother.
Iirc the Tyrell army was in Kings Landing. So there are the Tyrell bannermen plus the Kevan loyalists, plus the people. Remember that Jamie wasn't even there when she was crowned so it fucks me how she could do it.
Well leaving aside that logic is somewhat absent in GOT (ie Euron's magical ship building), I would say two words.

The.More logically though was Tarley's comments about knowing what she does to those that go against her.
My original thought also. You could rewrite the question as:

You can see that old Tarly is conflicted. A sworn bannerman to the Tyrell's yet the Tyrell's are, according to Cersei at least, in open rebellion.Now that's one thing I'm confused about... Given what happened when Cersei blew up the Great Sept of Baelor she killed many including the heirs of house Tyrell. But Lady Olenna wasn't present as she had been warned by her granddaughter Margaery.
So now, how exactly is that meant to be considered in open rebellion against the Iron Throne? Cersei has been banging on now for two episodes about the Tyrells and Dorn yet they haven't really done anything wrong as yet... well maybe not being blown up into ash counts in Cersei's eyes.
Sure, they have/are aligning themselves with Dany but technically, that doesn't mean rebellion as Dany has not yet made any threats or taken any actions against Cersei, that I can recall. Which all hardly constitutes "open rebellion".
I did like how old Tarly referred to Cersei's way of dealing with those she doesn't like.

That's about Ardie Savea size. Massive.
The Mountain actor can also deadlift over 4 hundy kg. That's solid.
I do wonder if we're gonna see a Clegane battle at some stage. Hard to see the Hound beating his big bro ( with an actor who is 15 or so years younger )
