Stats back up there was fuck all in it!

I'd say from that, our tackle %, defenders beaten and clean breaks are biggest issues

I don't think Scott Barrett is anything more than solid at this stage.

I really hope Tuipolotu and Akira Ioane kick on. We need a point of difference.

@taniwharugby I reckon many of the missed tackles were from us being short handed in game 2

interesting it appears Garces has made the call that lead to Poite changing his mind...

Interesting to hear Hansen say this morning that Ben Smith will be available this weekend for the Highlanders. This being the case, surely he should have started or at least sat on the bench against the Lions.

@taniwharugby Really! The same ref who called the "Have to penalize you for tackling the man in the air because it is the rules" guy? Well, there is logic and then there are the French refs.........

@Samurai-Jack this is according to TV1 news, so is 50/50 whether accurate or not.

oh, I reckon Jerome Kaino in super rugby would have been cited AND had time off for that last night, but the board shat the bed last week with SOB and had no choice but to ignore it.

Fairly unsatisfying, but important to remember that after a draw a champion retains his title. ABs are still to ones everyone wants to beat.

I agree with Jordie not kicking last night. I don't think it was discussed on here before the game but it would have been interesting to know what the collective fern view would have been around whether Jordie should kick or not. There were many on here nervous about Jordie merely starting let alone handing him the kicking tee as well.

I admit I was happy to settle for the draw in the end last night. When time was up and the ABs were running it I was hoping we would kick it out. I had visions of us knocking on, the Lions counter attacking, us defending like crazy and the mad frenchman pulling a kickable penalty out of his arse for the Lions. I don't think I would have ever gotten over that.

    The positives over the series

    1. Scrum
    2. We didn't lose the series
    3. New caps were more than decent
    4. This will be more than useful experience come 2019

    Moving forward

    1. More X-factor off the bench. Would be great to see the big units Tuipolotou and Ioane really step up. Barrett was disappointing.
    2. Get Sopoaga up to speed.
    3. Back 3 needs a revamp. A bit meh. Jordie, Rieko look like future.

I look more forward to the NH tour than the RC

From what I've seen in June and July, only the Saffas will give you a game in the Championship

For whatever reason , the aussies usually save their game of the year for us in sydney , last year excepted ,

We have to usually put form aside for that one .

Looking into my crystal Ball , im not talking immediately

if Jordie kicks on ,which most tend to think he will, i can see Dagg being the unlucky one ,

With perhaps B smith moving back to the right wing where he plays so well anyway , particularly on the kick chase,

with the big hua being a goalkicking fullback.

Jesus I know some crap people. Hilariously, most of the lions fans yesterday were saying "oh but you wouldn't have wanted to win on a technicality, how bad would that have been". Get fucked you jump into tackle morons.

Why is an article about Barrett's kicking in 2016 being dredged up as some indicator Hansen is mental? It's over halfway through 2017, show me those stats.

As someone said yesterday, I fear WR are going to remain silent on Poite and Garces, which is shithouse. Garces was just incompetent, but Poite showed some next level dodgyness. They should be fucking hauled.

so what is the general feeling from Lions fans about the draw, TV1 news probably only showed the ones that were stoked, claiming it was as good as a win, but surely they dont all feel that way?

For me a draw is a loss, cos we didnt win...

I'm just speculating here, but is the alleged satisfaction with a drawn series down to soccer being the dominant sport in the NH and you see more draws so therefore a draw is often an acceptable result?

Would have been a pretty crazy move in my opinion. I think it was ACT who pointed out that players aren't robots.

20 year old kid having his first test start in the biggest test outside a RWC play-off game? That's more than enough pressure to deal with.

You ask him to take the kicks as well, there's no guarantee you get the same outcome from him in the rest of his game.

I reckon he could have handled it though. Lima Sopoaga kicked the goals and ran the cutter against the Boks on debut at Ellis Park, kicking the winner. Class is class

@canefan was Sopoaga 20 with less than a year of top flight pro rugby behind him?

@Bones Yeah. Nah. Like I say I was OK with him not kicking. Clearly after seeing him pot that Zinny style DG from the sideline he should have been kicking
