Anyone notice Itoje smack Charlie during the scuffle after the deciding penalty? Might have been a bitch slap but Charlie ended up on his arse.

What was annoying was that some of the defensive flaws the AB's showed last week - and got away with - don't seem to have been fixed.

Either late tactical awareness of how to adjust? Or the impact of their bench (which was better than last wek's). Lions blew us away in the last 20. There was a period of prologued aggressive defence around the 70 min mark (or thereabouts) that was awesome.

Well done Lions, got there in the end.

Glad for Gats. His players almost let him down with their indiscipline.

I thought Garces was fine. There's always quibbles.

Yep - that defence around 70 min... every single tackle, the ABs were going backwards.
    Fuck it. Fucking fuck it.

Jesus golden boy Barrett gets a free ride on here. He was so poor tonight, and kicked away good attacking ball on numerous occassions, none of which came close to working out. Still our best option, and agree Cruden was no better, but you can criticise him you know.

Lions much better than us in contact all night, losing kaino hurt.

I'm bitterly disappointed because I feel that we still should have won that.

I have zero problems with the ref

Beauden was shit and Cruden even worse. If Beauden kicks as well as they did - from tougher positions - we win comfortably.

Cool, I'm blaming SBW . I think Stuff comments will back me up on this one.

I'm sure the vitriol is being aimed at SBW but the ABs could still have won this game despite his stupidity.

There was always going to be a test in which Barrett's erratic goal kicking was a factor. Unfortunately this was that game.

Well done to the Lions and their victory sets up the 3rd test nicely. I'm looking forward to being there.

Very disappointed by the lack of go forward this week compared to last the backrow didnt show up in my opinion especially in the first 20. Cane excepted.

So is it illegal to tackle a player that's in the air diving for the line now too? So you can jump over the line and no one is allowed to touch you? Unbelievable rule.

Lions deserved the win but this just proves you can't go into a game without a kicker who can get the job done. Need a rethink at first five against this type of opposition and those conditions.

The ABs, along with just about every NZ team who have played the Lions this tour, have struggled to get any backline moves or free flowing rugby going. Hays off to the Lions. They have contained us big time with the rush (offside) defense. That's why our 10s are resorting to poor kicks.

Agree. Can't see why people have an issue with him. I thought he controlled the game given there was a heap of offside/off ya feet/in from the side play from both sides.

Barrett kicked better than I expected.....

I don't think Barrett played that badly, but his goal kicking cost us. The ref was terrible, but got it right when he sent off SBW. Vunipola should have got red as well and that could have had a huge impact on the game. The swinging arm on Naholo should have been checked properly. There were more dubious decisions and non-decisions.

I'll agree on his kicking, but he wasn't that bad overall, particularly when considering the circumstances.

Same applies to Cruden, but that final kick was utterly fucking stupid. They had half decent field position, ball retention was good and the Lions were bound to infringe.

    Ok. Fuck.

Ref was as random as fuck.

However i can see the rationale for the rc. I disagree with it. He did wrap his left arm. But hey ho you do that you put yourself in the ref's hands.

Couple of high / late shots by both teams on balance the Lions got the rub of that green.

Ref had as much idea about the offside line as Itoje did.

Couple of nice tries by BILs. Very very good.

That last penalty was absolute crap. You can't jump into a pass and be considered "in the air". What about if someone is running and hit at the moment both feet are off the ground? That was crap.

BBs kicking boots ... it was worried about ....

Great D by BILs. Big big tackles.

So to beat the All Blacks you have:

    1. Pray for rain
    2. Play against 14
    3. Get some bullshit calls in your favour
    4. Score a couple of sensational tries
    5. Defend well

Always thought this would be a war and could go either way and full credit ( 🙂 ) (despite my balanced and reasonable analysis above) to the Lions for coming out on top.

    You sound like an Aussie.....

@Rapido The 35 minutes of being a man down told in the last 10 minutes. Tiredness, the disruption from the subs coming on and the game opening up a little meant more mistakes and in the end they cost the AB's.

The Lions were very nervous for most of that second half - the AB's looked like they could control the game and score penalties until Vunipola was sent off and the Lions pulled themselves together.
