Chiefs v B&I Lions

Well done Lions, excellent win.
Chiefs smashed at set piece, smashed in contact, beaten at the ruck, meaning the backs were superfluous.
Lions so good. Fast accurate and physical on defense, and excellent at keeping the ball. Much more accurate kicking game as well. Some good running rugby when it was on as well. I loved their ability so sneakily slow down every ruck off any chiefs half break. Thats very us, and if they can do it on the weekend they're a big shout.

Hamish Bidwell is such a cock:
I enjoyed that. Haven't found the Chiefs hugely endearing in the last few months. They're not great lovers of the media, particularly the print brigade. Got towelled right up in this one
Geeet fucked you insignificant fluffybunny. God the media are seld centered parasites

@mariner4life Must be bitter his prediction that the Chiefs would thrash the Blues was bullshit.

Thought that Christie lad was phenomonal genuinely looked like the only threat in the backs and a shame he went off. Hika too was awesome when he came on. Just shame about everything else. Lions dominated and got better as the game went on, nice to see some enterprising backplay from them. Decent watch once you've accepted the Chiefs were going down.

Dicked, in every facet of the game.
But the scoreboard. Seriously; this is a Lions team that according to Barnes (so numbers may not be correct) had more test caps than the Chiefs had Super Rugby appearances.

the combination of breaking out the haka and trotting out a B team doesn't really sit well with me.
Ha!

Agreed it wasnt a bad watch when you factor in the Chiefs were well down talent wise in this game.
Good to see Nowell show his abilities - as has been suggested on here he's not a traditional winger but dangerous when he pops up.
Impressive display Lions - so excited for Saturday.
Finlay Christie is seriously awesome.
I would like to commend the Chiefs for apparently blacklisting that knob journo Hamish Bidwell - may all other nz franchises follow suit.

@reprobate He really is poor these days. Every Lions break coincided with him being a turnstile.
Not a huge surprise with the result. Lions slightly better than they have been, certainly more fluid. Chiefs the opposite, some awful backline play with passes fired behind the man. Lions dominant in the physical battle which is their strength. Some of the young Chiefs players went OK but as group, far too callow. From a BOP point of view, some experience gained and Tiatia had a few nice touches.
French ref as baffling as ever.

The kicking v the Lions rush defence by most teams on this tour has been really ineffective. I think Walden for Highlanders had some success, not much else.
In general. At SR level & the tour, since the Barrett kickpass extravaganza v the stormers the kickpass has been ineffective (or complete stinkers) by all teams.

If you follow a few rugby journos on twitter there's often rumblings about the Chiefs' standover tactics of the media. Good on Liam for not cowering; and poor form from the franchise to deal with it so unprofessionally. They really don't help themselves sometimes.

Just got home. Had a feeling that kind of result was coming almost as soon as the squad was named and yeah...
Beaver had the worst game he's played since he came back, TNW is not a centre and the backline as a whole played like the patchwork backline it was. Worst player had to be Polwart though. Fucked up so many lineouts it wasn't funny. Though having said that, I don't think I saw a single straight Lions throw in.
Really looking forward to the ABs sending those pricks packing.
