Ahh, now is that the traditional rugby-fanatics re-writing of history (I'm an Irish fan and I recall many heroic performances that were somehow reported as defeats)
or because you do not believe that I was 10 rows back from Dominici when he took that bouncing ball and about the same distance away from that pass when Wayne Barnes got something in his eye?

after you get settled in ask me about the time I had breakfast with Jerome Kaino, Damien Mackenzie, Joe Moody and Liam Squire.

    Thanks
After you tell me, I'll tell you about being at the 99 & 07 RWC QFs NZ v Fr 😉

Except that jeggas breakfast actually happened...

Jegga's breakfast falls into the category of 'Penthouse Letters'. Covers lots of fantasies and would be great to think it was real.

You're not creating a particularly good first impression of yourself.

Welcome Megweya - good to see another Irish fan on the Fern - by way of Eritrea!

Psst - I wouldn't mention the you know what.

He did a good job of disguising himself early on and then completely blew it by admitting his support of Ireland. But TBF, he led with 99 and 07 so it wasn't like he/she/ze was trying to hide anything I guess.

Ah, the disguise of waiting for the second line before citing in my second line the
"battle cry of Willie John McBride"

As subtle as a Jamie Roberts forward-step ...
(he has not yet learnt the side-step)
    😉

To me, the WJ quote suggests I'm either a Lions historian or biased.

For the avoidance of doubt - like all rugby fans, I'm biased - but I try to be impartial before or after being biased.
Sometimes it makes a difference, sometimes it doesn't.

    Cheers
    Megweya

    JamieR 1.93m 110 kg

Pound for pound (kilo for kilo) I know who was the better Lion.

Ben Youngs has withdrawn from the tour for family reasons. His brother Tom's wife has been diagnosed with terminal illness. Awful news, and the right decision from Ben. Puts the rugby into perspective.

Yep. Laidlaw steps up. Good choice. I think he will make a good tourist.

The obvious decision I think, and solves the midweek captain problem at the same time.

Yep. Bloody good leader and player for Scotland.

What are the chances of him following in the footsteps of his famous uncle, Roy Laidlaw, another Scottish scrum-half who captained his country, and then was picked for the Lions after injuries to a couple of players and ended up playing all four tests in the 1983 tour. Scotland won a grand slam the following year too with Laidlaw at the helm of memory serves. Always enjoyed watching his sniping breaks and young Greig takes after him.

    No pressure then, Greig.

@Pot-Hale I follow a Scottish rugby chat group on FB. They reckon a grand slam is in the bag. Given they have more false dawns than the Black Caps I might not hold my breath on this occuring.

Despite some Scottish ancestry on one side of the family, I won't be pulling the tartan out just yet in anticipation of a public display of adulation next Spring.

    Awesome news.

Love the idea of the Blues and the Crusaders doing a Haka, as well the Chiefs obviously.

I would have thought the Crusaders would be the last to do one but great that they are. I feel like this is something Robertson would be driving, being a slightly less than conservative kind of guy. Maybe they are going to incorporate some break dancing? 🤣

Blues haka to be more polynesian influenced? A Samoan flavour would be appropriate, not sure that's do-able though.

Wan't Tana one of the drivers behind Kapa o Pango having elements from various PI cultures in it?

Apparently NZ rugby should be quaking in our boots, the Vunipola brothers are coming. I hope they bring their own sports bras, as our shops don't have sports bras with a big enough cup size to fit their man breasts these two lard arses have.

Moob envy - pure and simple.

It's intriguing that you know the national inventory of sports bra stocks though. Commendable even.

So who watched the Sky doco "Pride on the Line" last night?

I enjoyed that, even with Meg as the host. It is always interesting to see footage and interviews from games and players from earlier tours. We also had a sighting of Rodders, who I can't remember seeing since he disappeared from the NZ rugby scene.
