Parker v ??
-
@Bovidae ah ok, musta mis-heard the thing I was listening to on TV while doing something else...
On the Joshua Klitchko fight, Klitchko is paying about $2.80 to win....Parker said yesterday his experience will probably get him through.

Deontay Wilder is a shit boxer but IMO anyone who says they will fight anyone, anywhere and already has a belt with a larger following than someone they are challenging you should stay clear of them.
He has more to lose that Parker. He is starting to get a following finally in the states. He's being asked to front clothing labels and make guest appearances on US TV. Money is coming in for him. So when a guy says he will come to your backyard(homecourt advantage and judges potentially in the home fighter pocket...) for a fight that will not yield much in the way of world wide attention or PPV (unless they fight at 11am in the morning in NZ) he must have some fucken massive balls and self belief.
He can't box but he hits like a mule kicks. He'll break his hands to knock to out if thats what it takes. To me I think he is the most dangerous fight out there. King Long is there too but he doesn't seem to be on anyones raider. Parker should stay away from Wilder.

Atmosphere looks great at Wembley
-
Klitchko looks like he is toying with Joshua, but getting some shots put on him.
-
probably wont go 12, someone will go down, surely
-
what a round this is
-
Best heavyweight title fighti for some time
-
@kiwiinmelb I dont watch alot of fights, but this has been pretty good, JOshua looked the business early, Klitchco then showing his class and it even out again
Comms said Klitchco just ahead so far
-
wow what a hit by Joshua
-
its over
HUge round 11 by JOshua
-
Joshua is the real deal now , its confirmed
-
@kiwiinmelb thought he was gonna get knocked from about round 5-7, but he took it all and then that round 11.
-
Yeah was a fight of swinging momentum
-
Seeing this is a parker thread ,
I fear for Joseph fighting Joshua .... if it happens ,
I see an early knockout
-
But at least we'd know how the story goes @kiwiinmelb - Maybe Joshua's showing will mean Parker gets a shot sooner than later?
Only caught highlights but it looked good. Some heavy shots being thrown! The coolest thing about the heavyweight fights, even gassed it only takes 1 punch if you get a guy clean.
Well done Joshua - I was reading up on his history this week and he's turned his life around from a pretty rugged start.

biggest drawcard to fight Joe, he holds a title,
but I think he sits behind Tyson Fury, a rematch with Vlad , or Wilder when it come to a money spinner , which is what motivates the promoters

Klitchko really seemed to have it over him around the 5th? round but never followed it up. He appeared to stick to his long plan (tire him out and then go for it), rather than 'box' what was happening at the time.
Best heavyweight match I've watched in a long time.

what I saw:
Great fight
Klitschko was great. A much smarter fight than against Fury. I thought he was going to win by the end of the 8th round(i mean he looked the better fighter and if it was going 12 he'd have out pointed AJ). He should now retire and be happy he went out on his shield. No rematch. Great career where he was starved of quality opposition but he should be remembered as a great. Its not his fault noone was around until the end of his career.
AJ probably surprised everyone with a "late" KO. It surprised me. If it didn't happen early I expect him to gas and then the result would be a close decision. But he got that second wind and did the business. He's legit now and well done to him. He's a likeable guy, mostly respectful of his opponents in the lead up and speaks well. 5 minutes of jawing from Wilder or Fury and I'm almost ready to give up on the sport of boxing. But AJ comes across as a thinker.
Where does this leave Parker? Honestly, hopefully well out of the picture. He's not up to that. It'll be like when Cameron fought Tua. I think Parker needs at least 5kg more muscle across the chest and arms or he'll be bullied. I think he needs a new trainer or at least they need to bring in a defensive specialist to assist Barry. Ideally though i'd just get a new trainer altogether. There has been no progression with Parkers defense or his stamina and its unacceptable to have had a fighter that long and not have made any progress. Parker is especially susceptible to overhand and hooks. Effectively KO punches. The one bright spot for parker is AJs chin. If Klitschko was a power hitter it may have been his had raised. If someone like Wilder, Ortiz and even parker tags AJ I doubt he'd get back up. Getting past those massive arms is the only problem.
I don't want to throw shade on the result or defame AJ but it would not surprise me if he is on roids.

Of the two, I'd plump for the 41 year old.
But hopefully we've seen two superior athletes at either end of their respective careers offering up the best heavyweight title fight for a very, very long time.

Boxing like a lot of sports , is full of ped s , has been for some time
