Watching Ireland v England replay. How did Itoje not get a yellow card in the 18th minute? Late, shoulder tackle ...
He has seemed to get away with foul play or borderline the whole tournament, with several instances a match. It could come back to bite the lions in a big way unless gatland has been taking notice.

You lot celebrating Ireland beating England reeks of the Aussies celebrating Ireland beating us. It's a little distasteful.
Yeah... nah.
They can suck it. -

@Stargazer Barnes caved to Norths whinging about being bitten, running over from the sideline to cry and try tell anyone who'd listen that he had bite marks on his arm...
Barnes needs a rest and to be sat down and shown the massive inconsistencies in his game.
Refs seem so much more above the law than players ( in lots of sports and it shits me to no end ). If their blunders are apparent after people look at them impartially after the event they should be stood down, fuck, Barnes shouldn't have refereed another game after his efforts in 2007. Also they should be seen and not heard and let the game flow, Nigel Owens, Billy Bowden....fuck off with your 'quips' and 'idiosyncrasies'.....we're there to watch sport, not your self indulgent shit. I know NZ comedy is in a pretty poor state when shows like 7 days get airtime but with YouTube being readily available we don't need you dickwads trying to be characters.

Barnes just kept digging the hole deeper for himself didn't he?
He's an odd one as he can go 98% of a game looking like a very good ref then completely fuck things up -

The fact he is a very good ref, good communicator most of the time makes the fuck ups even more painful. During his brain explosions it's like he pre-decides stuff and then is too arrogant to change his mind:
This forward pass ruling was fucking amazing:

Having in Chicago seen the Irish stop our run, I'm pleased to say I was there to witness the Poms' chariot being derailed. Spoke to Joe Schmidt later. Quietly satisfied and very respectful of English. Key tactic to gang tackle everything in a white jersey. Interesting that he said he also would have kicked for touch instead of taking the long range shot with ten to go.

Not surprising Wales were involved again. He went to school in Wales and yet he is always reffing their matches. It was his 4th or 5th time reffing a Wales Ireland 6 nations match which is amazing considering they can only play that once a year and theres always big calls going against Ireland late on. The match against France was his second time reffing Wales this 6 nations. I have to applaud the WRU for consistently getting their man.

Under current SR protocols he would have received a minimum of YC , and a possible citing..

England didn't string together one backline move in the whole game. Farell was good, everyone else were a bit meh.
I thought England got caught out looking at the big picture and forgot to focus on the getting the job at hand done first - win the game and play what is in front of you first and foremost. Records / history come later.
-
Well, bugger. Just bugger. England were dogshite, Ireland were click or two above in the intensity and even more so in the thought processes. Deserved winners. Congratulations @Pot-Hale and @profitius and any other Irish posters.
Disappointed with the result but much more disappointed with the performance.
Bugger

@Crash are the 6N protocols available for inspection?
Both comps are playing under the same WR directives.
As much as I thought Ireland whinged when we played them last year about supposed deliberate high tackles (which was bullshit) I think they had a point about the targeting of players with late hits in this game.
Did anyone else notice the weird England tactic of the ball carrier diving at his would be tackler? I noticed it twice and it was something I have never seen on a rugby field before. It was quite bizarre. I wrote the first one off as an oddity but then it happened again by a different player.

Dearie me. They were deliberate high tackles. Get over it and stop whinging about Irish whinging. Jeez, I thought the Irish were bad at it, NZ take the gold medal in nurturing grievances. 😈
Itoje was determined to make a mark and understandably England focussed on Sexton - not exactly an original concept. 😊 The ref warned him a couple of times and it seemed to ease off.
Sexton survived it better this time round. The steel plates in his shoulders helped obviously.

Sheesh PH - do you think maybe you need to find a more NH focused forum? With this and the Lions thread you're going to give yourself a hernia if you keep this up. (I'm not saying you should go as I like your contributions, but you seem to be in man the barricades mode at the moment).
As for Sexton coping it, DC used to cop it all the time and we were told to stop whinging, so stop your whinging.

Because there's no separate thread for the divisions below the 6 Nations, I'm posting this here.
After 6 years, Romania has snatched the Rugby Europe Championship title from Georgia, after beating them 8 to 7 on the weekend! Must have been a tough match with such a score. Both countries finished at the same competition points total, so this one-point win earned Romania the title. (If points differential had been the tie breaker, Georgia would have won.)
Story: http://www.planetrugby.com/news/rugby-europe-wrap-romania-defeat-georgia/
Final ranking:
As Belgium has finished last in this division, they'll have to play a promotion/relegation game on 20 May against the winners of the next division, the Rugby Europe Trophy division. That competition hasn't finished yet.

That's the first sensible post I've read on this forum in years. Maybe there's hope for ye all yet.
I can sleep easy now.

It's okay, Sexton didn't get mad. He got even....
Joking aside, well deserved win for Ireland. Always tough to beat in Dublin and we didn't have it on the day. It's certainly a lot easier to take than the 2013 Cardiff debacle
