Fucking hell. I hate it when they do the sudden collapse thing after a solid start.

After our top 3 no one can be trusted to bat out an innings

@Donsteppa McMillian really didnt seem like a player who would make a good batting coach - he went through very long form slumps as a player - where he wouldnt move his feet and prod the bat.

a technically very average player, who kept fucking around with his own technique for little reason, and without success. chubby face concealing little brain. the least likely batting coach out of any of that black caps side.

Looking at our stats for this series, only Guppy with a batting average of 64 comes out smelling of roses. Neesham has done pretty well averaging 54. Kane has a pretty ordinary series for him averaging 34. Munro averages 26 and Latham is next best with 11.

With the ball Boult gets a pass with 6 wickets at 30. Santner's bowling stats aren't bad, but his batting average of 5.66 is a major fail. Everyone else is ordinary to poor.

There was a total lack of lube used in that whole series. We were comprehensively bullied and prison raped.
This is not a cattle thing, this is a selection and coaching issue. The BCs seem to have no idea what type of game they are trying to implement, individual skill levels have regressed because no one seems to have any idea on their role except perhaps Guppy

    All out for 147.

Fucking make them row home. That is beyond embarrassing, to be thrashed by over 100 runs in 3 games. Apart from a couple of lone efforts, really, really shithouse collective batting. Like others, I have no idea how Craig McMillan got the job as batting coach. Nicholls can fuck off, too. Nowhere near international quality.

Gah. So pissed off right now.

Who would you have selected who wasn't? I can't really think of one name who warrants selection who was left out of the team. I think we were just thoroughly outclassed by a better team. We had our opportunities and did not take them.

I still think our best ODI side is quite good. Anderson for de Grandhomme, Neesham for Munro, Taylor for Nicholls, Milne or McClenaghan for Ferguson. You have one of the better ODI sides in the world.

It is more the point that the shuffling of players and lack of consistency in roles etc creates a shambles.
Liken the way this team runs against the ABs. They set a structure for the season, identify the best players for that structure (or who can learn their roles), identify the backup players to train alongside, plan for many unknown scenarios and have clear backup ideas when the unknown unknowns hit them.
When they get it wrong it is a mirror of what the BCs do all the time eg Kaino at lock.
The whole selection plan seems to be to paper over gaps or take chances and the gameplan then gets adjusted constantly to fit the players rather than the other way around.

I have to agree with the above. There's no way the All Blacks selectors would have picked Lockie over Tim in the first game. The selections of Black Caps coaching team makes is seem like they treated this series as if it doesn't matter, whereas the All Blacks selectors treat EVERY series as a must win series.

Uh... Was talking about Ferguson copping one on the wrist from Starc. His hand was off the bat so saved him from being caught behind.

Timing of the comment was right at game time 🙂

Fuck you c*nts. That is an embarrassing effort. This is how wallabies supporters feel when they've been fingered like drunk school girls again.

The whole team needs to have a good look at themselves

The worst ODI series I've witnessed in ages. The worst thing was how much it fucked with my sleep patterns. Actually, our batting, bowling and fielding was worse. I don't want to see Munro, CDH or Watling in the ODI side again, and after this series I have to say Santner is very borderline in ODIs too. Latham has to be given the gloves, surely. If and when this happens and we see the returns of Taylor, Neesham and Anderson to shore up the batting, Sodhi comes in to keep things tight at one end for 10 overs and we have our full compliment of quicks in action on home pitches, this'll be a different side.

I didn't understand that selection when it was made and thought it was a bad one but I now see the logic. Our two best ODI bowlers in recent times have been Henry and Boult. Boult is ranked #1 and Henry is ranked #5 (at least they were before this series started). Therefore, you really have to pick both of them. The selectors obviously wanted something different so went for Ferguson over Southee. Problem was that Ferguson did so poorly in the first ODI that they had to go with Southee for the second. Southee is only ranked as the 28th best ODI bowler in the world. The thing is the selection strategy for the first ODI (of two strike bowlers and something a bit different) was proven correct by the second ODI.

I think we picked our best team in every game using the information we had at the time.
