I want to know if BOD has tweeted his outrage that Umaga and Mealamu STILL haven't apologized after all theses years. Anyone know ?
Where the fuck does this random post come from?
Just alluding to the fact the irish seem to have gone from plucky celtic triers ( like the good old Scots will always be ) to self entitled whingers in the space of a decade or two.

I like these NH tours because it's Friday and we are still talking about the team selections
On Kaino I think it's more about knowing he can go for 80 at a high level but still not sure about whether PT can. So Kaino's the insurance.
Questions will be asked of our scrum

Good to see the NZ Herald is keeping up with the times - almost. This story got published and covered already. In other NZ media in fact.
Methinks, Fitzgerald has got a touch of the bitter lemons and revelling in the fact that he can have a controversial pop now as he seeks to become a pundit for the sports tv stations. Hasn't a patch on Darcy for analysis and writing.
I think you'll be very surprised to know I agree with him. Its pathetic, giving Bent a jersey when he got off the plane is the sort of thing you'd expect of a rugby power on a par with Scotland and the project player scheme deserves every bit of scorn anyone gives it.

Nzherald saying that this is the first time 2 sets of brothers have been chosen since 1961 (Clarkes and Meadses), but I'm positive the Bachops and Brookes played at least one test together in 1994.

Yep I remember that test vs the Boks. We drew it and I think that was the start of some calling for Stephen to never be selected again.

Hard to beat the mighty Scots when they had the Milnes, Calders, Hastings, Dods, Bullochs, Leslies, Lamonts, Grays and Evans brothers running around.
Well, actually no it wasn't really.

This is our raw Polynesian power selection.
That is so after we thrash them , they can whinge about us recruiting from the islands , got to keep the flame alive .
They have a point. A mixture of the North & South Island 😛

Bombshell. Obviously it's not a massive deal, but when it's your bloody job...

To defend the NZ Herald (just this once!) that stat is taken from the NZRU press release of the naming of the team.

Then a pox on both their houses.

@Pot-Hale well if you followed TSF close enough you'd know most of us don't really follow mainstream media too much
Saw it pop up on my FB feed....
You agree with him though don't you? So why does that make him bitter, or are you as well?
I agree with the Player Succession Strategy which sought to limit the number of foreign players coming into Ireland by introducing quotas based on numbers, playing position and whether qualified to play for Ireland. There is no separate specific project player programme.
Michael Bent qualified to play for Ireland through a grandparent. His being rushed into a green jersey was awful but necessary at the time because there was a dearth of props due to lack of quality and injury. That specific problem has now been fixed through a specialist prop development programme.
The change in development policy that started a couple of years ago and flagged last June by IRFU is that they are not going to fund the provinces to buy in expensive foreign players anymore but instead invest in the domestic development pathway. I posted a recent interview with Nucifora on this topic in which he said the preferment of domestic players including over project players was what they wanted to achieve. They want to have 3 test quality players in every position for RWC 2019. That's reflected in the increase in the academies at all four provinces. The IRFU have said they're happy if the rules on residency are changed to 4/5/6 years.
My comment on Fitzgerald was not about project players but bitterness about his playing career being cut short by injury again. Which is what really limited his test appearances, not the presence of project players.
-
I can understand Fitzgerald's furstration, every time I saw him play I thought "what an absolute gun that guy is". I reckon he never ever got to even play his best footy due to all the injuries, it's a real pity.
However, I suppose taking it to 'project players' changes anything or makes him feel better, but still, all the best to him whatever he does after footy.

Thats half the problem tho' - being a journalist now is just taking a press release from anyone (literally anyone), not fact checking it at all, copy-paste, then scan facebook for more "news" you can copy-paste without fact checking.
