2027? He'll be running out of time to sign for the Blues and complete the SR set. 🙂

@Bovidae reminds me of Ross Geldenhuys who played Chiefs, Hurricanes, Highlanders, Kings, Lions, Stormers, Cheetahs, Sharks and Bulls. He's got to hold the record for most super rugby franchises played for.

@handa457 did he actually play for the canes/chiefs? Pretty impressive, looks like he's still going?

He is ok, nothing special but can do a decent job at wing.
But why are we not playing Fehi Fineanganofo who is a game breaker?

@Bones yup as an injury replacement got a couple of games for each Franchise from memory. He was an injury replacement / transfer to the Bulls in 2009 when they won the title and won a second title with the highlanders in 2015. The ultimate journeyman.

    Probably our most important signing

A nice squad building for next year, those that have signed so far.

    Props: Numia, Tosi, Lomax, Mafileo
    Hookers: Aumua
    Locks: Walker-Leawere, Allen, Delany
Loose forwards: Flanders, Shields, Kirifi, Lakai, Iose
    Halfbacks: Roigard, Vijoen
    First fives: Cameron, Godfrey
Centres: Proctor, Sullivan, Barrett, Higgins, Umaga-Jensen
    Outside backs: Love, Punivai, Fineanganofo

    Players that I hope extend:

    • Zach Gallagher
    • Siale Lauaki
    • Callum Harkin
    • Kini Naholo (rumour is he's heading to Japan)
    • Kade Banks
    • Tjay Clarke

I really hope that doesn't happen.

We seem to lose a lot of outside backs when they are right on top of their game.

Flanders also training with the Canes again. Unless we get injuries this weekend, we'll likely have a full squad to pick from heading into the business end of the season. (finally).

Canes players playing Club Rugby in Wellington this weekend are:

    • Daniel Sinkinson (Wainuiomata)
    • TJ Clarke (Petone)
    • Hugo Plummer (Tawa)

Others likely playing in other regions as well.

Update on Harry Godfrey, he will likely make his return later than expected, due back round 15 against the Reds.

Hurricanes' playmaker woes could be cured sooner than expected

Hurricanes' playmaker woes could be cured sooner than expected

The Hurricanes' days of limping through the 2025 season without two of their three premier No. 10s may soon be over.

“Any chance I get, I want to play 10. I grew up playing 10 and my dad (Matene Love) who was my coach played a lot there and my uncle (Danny Love) played a lot there. Growing up they showed me the skills side of things.”

Query: maybe my memory is wonky, I thought on here I read Love was offered 10 or 15 at the Canes and he preferred the 15 jersey?

hmm if Godrey wants to be 10 as well:

Harry Godfrey solidifying his spot in Hurricanes' first-five

Harry Godfrey solidifying his spot in Hurricanes' first-five

Harry Godfrey has only started one game at No.10 for his NPC side Hawkes Bay, and is now ready to cement himself as the Hurricanes first choice first-five.

""I always would like to be at 10. I enjoyed my time at fullback. They're slightly different, but more of the same. A bit more space at fullback, but you get a bit more touches on the ball at the first receiver."

It's a bit harsh on him. He isn't a speedster and will never be but he has been playing very well lately. I can understand why he is in the starting XV every week.
