Adolescence was outstandingly done considering the whole one take thing. the coordination to get it all together is mind blowing really, such amazing organisation and every single performance absolutely top notch, even the small parts.

In saying all that though lots of it seemed unresolved by the end.

would have been good to get an episode......

from the perspective of the girls parents, also from when he was on trial for what he'd done

@MN5 Yeah, some sort of interaction with the parents would have been good. Perhaps even when he delivered the flowers, could have had some sort of engagement then. He pleaded guilty so I don't think there was a trial. I think it ended leaving us to envision what the rest of the family's life would be like knowing their son is in prison for murdering an innocent young girl and how their lives will never be the same.

    Snatch (TV Series 2017–2018) ⭐ 6.9 | Comedy, Crime

    1h | Not Rated

    Just binged the two seasons.

A jolly romp which went on a bit long. Could easily have been 6 episodes per season.

I won't be watching any new season if they ever make one because by the end it was Eastenders meets Carry On.

If there's nothing else on, give it a whirl.

Or better still watch the movie instead. Different league.

The Aussie manager in the first series leaving a 'gift' in the American family's suitcase was a viewing first for me.

@MN5 just finished. Got a 13 year old son …. Jeeze.

Episodes 1 and 3 were fantastic. Unbelievable acting.

2 was decent but 4 was a bit of a snooze fest.

I think it could be combined into a 2 hour movie with a few parts cut and a 20 minute take of the parents of the girl at some point.

    Overall tho, an incredible series.

I think the whole "one shot" take thing whilst incredible and amazingly done is possibly a bit unnecessary ? LOADS of pressure on actors not to fuck up their lines ( I'd imagine they had some run throughs where someone messed up their lines half an hour in for example )

In saying that the school scene where the kids runs off and the cop chases him ( complete with running on a road etc ) must have taken so much time and effort to organise.

@MN5 The last episode took until the 14th take to get it right I think. The actors do say it allows them to inhabit the character more and is more like a stage production vs traditional scene by scene acting.

That's a fair call. Easy to forget that stage actors do it like this all the time.

@MN5 Totally agree. I actually think its held back the series on what it was capable of somewhat.

It didn't hinder episodes 1 or 3, but 2 or 4 could have been much better done. The drive to the hardware store in episode 4 just went on and on and on .....

Kind of like me on TSF ...

@taniwharugby Speaking of Stephen Graham, his latest is technically exceptional, the fact each episode is one take is just bonkers. The actors are all so good and the content very interesting, especially if you have kids. I enjoyed it but seems you either love it or hate it. Plot is trying to understand why a 13 year old boy murders a young girl.

Adolescence. Watched this over the last 2 nights,

Conflicted opinion on this. Brilliantly acted, edited and produced but to me was all over the place. Was it something exceptonal or a collection of superb technical set pieces let down by a lack of a cenral idea/focus?

In many ways started off with a bang annd ended up with a wimper. Technically brilliant but, overall, over-hyped.

Opening episode was wild and simply incredible. the best TV I've seen in years. Episode 2 was good showing what goes on at the schools and set the scene for the the next episode (Ep.3) where the motive came out started to be explored with some extraordinary acting and writing

Sadly, that abruptly came to an end and we segued to Ep 4 - expecting some explanation and insight. Sadly we didn't but instead we got dross - a collection of kitchen-sink drama cliches and some poor acting. Left me feeling a bit cheated.
