That felt like a pre determined result from that referee. Like I said, I can handle losing fair and square but that was a genuine piss take. The boys must be feeling pretty deflated after that.

    Ref needs dropped, literally.

Just off the top of my head

    Lasaqa clearly over the ball

    Fealafaga clearly over it

No arms tackle by Brumbies 12

    High shot on Hastie

    And much much more

Seems to happen a lot, especially in Canberra. Seen it happen far too often to the Canes in the last four years there.

Congratulations Way. A vintage performance for you and yet you still made it appear as though an NZ side had a chance of winning. Superb

Highlanders probably win that if de Groot had played. Needed him out there tonight.

We lost the game the moment they didn’t take that ball out the back of the scrum before the penalty. 3 points even or taking up some minutes on the clock and game was over.

The Highlander only have themselves to blame for their scrum woes. I've no idea why Joseph retained DLB and didn't re-sign Johnstone, who can hold his side of the scrum up. Bartlett still has his L plates on.

@Bovidae Johnstone had gone dud too… I’m not really sure his heart was in it down here. DLB has never been able to scrummage, but offers effort around the field. I actually didn’t think he had the world’s worst game.

Bartlett I thought did as best as could have been expected. He stayed up and square for those first two scrums and wasn’t rewarded - third one he goes in, and then the penalty comes.

The Aussie referees have a picture against the Highlanders scrum, and with the lack of ability, it is hard to change that.

Only took 9 seconds on the clock before the officials decided they wanted someone sent from the field.

I am sick of the card culture we now have in the game, but how is it not a red?

    The inconsistency is farcical.

You cant come from any further back at any higher speed than Corey Toole did.

Sam Cane got sent off in a RWC final for tackling a lad from a two yard entry.

The sport is an absolute joke.

Best player on the field for the Brumbies was Jordan Way. Great game, he won it for them.
Joke aside, I like what I saw of Lasaqa (his best game so far), Tangitau and Nareki. Withy was very good, as usual. Gilbert was rocks and diamonds. Solid performances from Howden, Vikena, Hastie and Big Jim.

Hastie has really impressed me this season. Never really thought much of him before

Well Brumbies derserved the win in the end. But what I think is how good a coach is JJ??
Brumbies had 7-8 Wallabies, Clan had 0 ABs, and really shouldn't of stayed anywhere near Brumbies at home. But they did, and I put it down to bloody good use of players abilities .
I think both teams would be reasonably happy at the end of that.

The Highlanders should have won but the referee decided otherwise.

We just didn't help ourselves either.

For every shit call, there was a high school level error from us in return.

As I've said in the main Highlanders thread. The bones of a good team is there. It will develop given time and continuity.

Another problem last night was some shithouse receiving of the high ball. Both Gilbert and Robinson struggled to take high balls. Which was disappointing.

The quality of tries we have scored this year has been incredibly high. This was the case again last night.

I work under the rule of thumb that the players decide the game result.
Just I don't accept blaming the refs ever get's you anywhere. Just me, and how I worked as a coach from schoolboys upwards , and so I can't change now, I too bloody old. 😁 And it saves me getting wound up at them.

You can't have as many issues as the Highlanders have and then say it was the ref.

The ref didn't kick it out on the full. The ref didn't spill the high kicks. etc

I feel like he would have if the highlanders drove him to desperation.

Game was there for the winning, but Way is a blindly biased shitbag.
