Yeah 2.5 races doesn't seem like much of a trial period, but then again maybe Liam is happy with the swap? Could be better for everyone, more money for Red Bull despite no improvement in results and if Yuki has the same issues and great for Racing if Liam gets into the groove. Will be funny if he out performs Tsunoda's efforts in the Racing.
I hope LL doesn't take it too hard, and actually feels some relief about moving to the junior team. Their car is no slug, and he has a great chance to have a strong weekend
He might be happy, why wouldn't he be? Gets what's looking like a great car and doesn't have to deal with the bullshit.
You'd think so. But he's competitive and it's human nature to take a demotion negatively. I'd like to think his support team will be focussing on the upside of switching teams
-
@canefan isn't a demotion if he does better.
He's being taken from the top team and put into the junior team. That's a demotion. But he has an opportunity to show how good he is in a car that has competed well so far this season. I think he'll do well, but I agree questions will be asked if he can't do better than Hadjar

Looks to me like this was a Honda driven decision. Japanese driver in the Japanese powered car for the Japanese Grand Prix.
Fingers crossed he does much better in the Racing Bulls and gives him a launch pad for the next few years.
I fear that the decision is taking such a long time to be officially announced that they are deciding whether or not they even keep him on at Racing Bull.

Very short term if so, as no Honda engines for red bull next year

It's official

It's official
Good that it is just a switch. Best of luck to both of them. Well, maybe more to Liam ...
As the BBC article says, both Gasly & Albon have done really well since their Red Bull demotion.

First interview with Max will be interesting, as he made it pretty clear he wasn't in favour of it. And Max has a lot of say.

In the context of Lawson's F1 future, I think this is a good move for him. Floundering in the RB car did no favours for his reputation as a driver, if he can have a good season in the white car it will place him in the shop window. One day he may choose to leave RB and he needs to show he's an attractive option for other teams including the two new ones
-
@canefan It will be interesting to see how LL goes vs Hadjar at RB, if he cannot match or better the speed of Hadjar then even more pressure will be mounted on his ability.
That will be interesting because I've read quite a few reports that Hadjar is a future WC such is the admiration of his talent.

As mentioned above it doesn't sound like Max is happy about the demotion at all, even liking IG posts accusing Red Bull of bullying. A lot of trouble in paradise there. It's pretty unfortunate timing for Lawson really, if the Japanese Grand Prix was a few races away, he'd likely have been given more time until then. But if they were going to bring Yuki in then that is the race to do so, because money talks even if that's a short term view.
Adds a lot of interest to this race though, if Lawson can out perform Tsunoda the infighting will only increase. Gotta love the drama.

@No-Quarter well the massive NZ F1 Market is getting alot of media attention this week from the drama.

Verstappen to me looks to be just going through the motions, like he doesn't really care what happens. I wonder how much passion or motivation he has left after all his success and the shenanigans at RB. Almost looks like he is just collecting the paycheck and waiting for time to go so he can compete in his virtual racing.

Max has always said he will walk away young.
Suspect he will and then come back
