@taniwharugby said in All Blacks 2025:

tbf I think the way the coaches (Fozzie, Cotter and Razor) are.trying to play with him at 13 does nothing to utilise his pace.

With the right 12 beside him, he would be lethal.

It seems so long since he has been in space it's hard to tell if he is still as fast as he was. We get the odd glimpse of his speed in defence I suppose, but it's hard to judge.

    Not great man management

Stevenson aired his frustration, speaking ahead of the Chiefs hosting the Blues in Hamilton on Saturday.

He said the communication from the All Blacks, or lack of it, was “disappointing”.

“Just the lack of feedback and just not knowing where I sat in the pecking order,” Stevenson said.

“Obviously I was pretty injury-prone last year, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I think it’s always nice getting a bit of feedback and knowing what you need to work on,” Stevenson said.

@KiwiMurph Well I didn't get feedback either, but it is because I am not in the picture - same for him I guess

But I agree, every player in NZ that has played for ABs, MAB or ABXV should be getting some feedback from the ABs group in some way

Unfairly treated in his time here. He is someone who can feel hard done by.

Sounds like Razor has been studying up on the John Mitchell coaching handbook

But never mind. Let's ignore the lessons of what went right and why we managed to almost win RWC2023 with 14 men, and console ourselves with Foster this and Foster that, eh?

Oh you're going on about Foster again.
But I agree adaptability has been a problem with the ABs for some time. And bench timing. I thought our first test against England (I think) was a good use of the bench but then it went back to the meh timing of earlier years.

I don't think he is, he's pointing out the other poster is going on about Foster isn't he?

I'd like to see Kirifi in the squad.

He's the best traditional 7 in the country - he leads from the front and doesn't float in and out of games.

Whilst his discipline still needs work it's miles better than it used to be

He could give the ABs something like a Kwagga Smith style player (not comparing accomplishments of the players but an example of a smaller loosie who is effective at test level).

Yeah, he's definitely something different and you'd never doubt his commitment. Something different from a bland homogeny of "utilities" would be great.

The ABs have solid players across the park now. I'm looking for a good year.
Sincerely hope they pick on form as I think they hung onto some old fullas for too long in 2024.

They'll probably turn him into a 6 to give Blackadder experience at 7.......

True, but there's also some glaring issues across the park - unsettled 6/7/8 and a midfield which needs some serious work.

    Yeah. I'm kinda tired of a 6/6/6. Love a greyhound at 7

If it were up to me I’d pick the two 7s boys (Tangitau and Carter) on the wing with Jordan at fullback.

Razor, an email will be coming your way

The way Jordan is playing this season reminds me of Jane at fullback.... just without the handling skills.

Remember at other international level, other Test sides (apart from Australia) kick the ball A LOT.

Test Rugby is a very different beast to the Super Rugby.

At international Rugby all your back three have to be superb under the pressure of the high kick and I'd argue that at Test level Will Jordan is best used as a 14.

There's no way those two actually make your real selections, you can't waste two wings on non Cantabs and keep your Cantablacks quota up.

@MN5 he is clearly not in the frame to even be considered, so sits with every other average super player who also don't get constant dialogue with the AB coaches…

Unlike most average SR players, he has at least made an AB squad in the last couple of years
