I'm not sure where the Blues turn to now. Hopefully Perofeta is back. I'm not confident Blues can solve their problems in one week but they should come out as desperate.

    Canes should be hot favourites

Lol after the being the dumber side of dumb and dumber versus drua, and only win due to superior fitness? This game will be close and could go either way

Probably more of a lack of firepower more than anything. The Canes were messy but they should be a lot better as the tournament progresses. Mind you, if we keep getting serious injuries to key players it might go the other way.

Don't no if correct but Jamie Wall said proctor is out for the season, just saying but he can be a drama queen.

There goes our season if true. Far out.

This could be what Club Rugby were referring to last week when they said 'watch out for big news about Billy Proctor over the next few days'.

Ross Bond and Matt Buck also said mentioned something about Billy Proctor having some sort of Achillies "strain" during their radio commentary.

It's more a sense of watching the two sides

Blues have really struggled in both second halves of their first 2 games

I think they have 1 rolling maul try 7 points across both second halves combined.

The Blues basic attacking game plan just doesn't seem to jive with the way Super Rugby this year

Not to mention the Blues are equally as dumb (against 13 men deciding against packing down a scrum but opting for the lineout).

Sounds niggly. Hope we get some good news though, the Canes need it.

From that list above, we are essentially missing 9 potential starters and 4 of them could be gone for the season if Higgins and Proctor are ruled out. NOT GOOD AT ALL.

    2026 is our year. 🙂

Tjay Clarke had shoulder surgery and Higgins had surgery on his hand. Both unlikely to feature again this campaign.

Proctor still unknown but looks to be walking freely.

The video below shows Higgins in a cast and Clarke in a sling. Looks like Matt Whaanga has joined the squad along with the young winger from Ta$man (can’t remember his name but he went to Scots College here in Welly).

@Canes4life was going to say what does Blake Makiri need to do to get a gig, but I see he's at Utah. Was impressed with him in NPC in the little I saw.

@Canes4life That would be Jack Gray. He played for the NZ Sevens earlier in the season.

    Numia
    Tuputupu
    Toss
    Lea were
    Delany
    Lanai
    Dupes

Any truth to the rumours the Blues are willing to pay the Canes a 6 figure sum to take Beauden back?

Hey I’ve already trademarked that for the Warriors.

If they are taking a bit of time to determine how long Proctor will be out, to me that points to less than a full blown Achilles. Strains can still take a bit of time though especially getting back to explosive work.

This should be fun. In the three seasons of Super Rugby Pacific, no side has made the top six after losing their first three. The caveat for the Blues, is they will have played the side likely to top the ladder, and two away derbies, but a loss to the Hurricanes puts them in an awful lot of strife.

If you assume that 8 wins might be needed to make the top six (seems the likely number in a competitive comp), that would leave them needing to win 8 of their last 11, which for a quality side is very doable - but in their next six after the Canes, they have four derbies, including trips to Christchurch and Hamilton... in fact in the next three, they have the Chiefs and the Crusaders.

The Blues last four games are as easy as any ones, but it is legitimately possible it is game over before it reaches that point.

For the Canes, a loss here is not quite as seminal, but depending on the manner of it, all signs could be pointing to them missing the top six. Their back half of the comp is fairly tough on paper, with three trips to Australia and two derbies.

Feels like this game will set the tone for both sides seasons. Should be a good watch.

In the Blues' favour is the fact that the Highlanders and Force have both taken games from sides that are more fancied to make the play-offs. Still very early days and there's enough class in the team that they could easily pick off the Chiefs, Crusaders etc if things go a bit differently.

Who will play 15 for the Canes?
With Love, Harkin, Tjay all out Do we have to shift Godfrey there, I hope not.
Then with Cameron, Cashmore, Harkin out we would have to start Hohepa?
Is Banks an option to start 15? I can't say I am very familiar with him but I don't see any other options and we really need Godrey at 10.
