ok this system is stupid. in a game where you get absolutely humped, you will still get 12 player of the day points?
-
Jacobson and McMillan are taking the piss giving loose forwards points after they put 49 on them.
-
Lio-Willie did get 2 turnovers, and made 11 tackles (without a "dominant")
And Blackadder did make 21 tackes, 2 dominant. No turnovers. Missed 5 tackles as well. But year, those games are the same as 15 carries, 4 linebreaks, 103 metres, two tries. Oh and 11 tackles.
-
I still like this system of doing it. I think the opposing captain and coach, have far more idea who is causing them problems in the game. And as for even losing team getting 12 points, it is supposed to be for best players in that team, if the players who get the 12 points aren't playing the losing team may well lose by more!
I thought Blackadder looked pretty good to be honest. They were just beaten in loosies by a forward pack as a whole, rather than individuals if that makes sense? -
no Dan it does not. Under this system a player who is the best of a dogshit side that gets humped every single game of the season has a better chance of being "player of the year" than a guy in a team that wins every single game. that makes no sense.
The AFL coaches vote on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis but for the whole game. SO yeah, you want to reward Ethan bussing around and getting in teh way a bit? Give him two points. Giving him the same as one of the clear standouts, and more than the actual best loosie on the park is, quite frankly, communism.

@mariner4life maybe something like winning side get 6 points each to award, losers get 4 each.

Beyond that, you get rewarded for being the one good player in your team. So, a player like Sotutu last year probably has no chance as there were others doing great around him. They'll split the points.
I would be betting on A. Savea. In fact, fuck it. I will bet on him, opening the TAB right now.
Player everyone wants to blow? check.
Shit team? check.Super rugby player of the year locked in.

Best team in the competition thus far does not have anyone in the leading (or second group).
Jim and Finn are both there.
Ha ha, well played.
Jim would probably be my pick for MVP thus far, tbh. -
