Razor must be a bit slow
I think he'll raise it again in the next 6 months
With or without stellar play from DMac
DMac is so much better than Barrett at 10 right now it's not funny. How Beaudy is the AB starting 10 I have no idea.
There is an accepted narrative out there that beaudy is experienced and calm, and dmac is erratic ,
once people form opinions it takes a lot of convincing to change their minds
shit, maybe 6 years ago.
Look, I love Beaudy to bits, but he is not the player he was a few years ago. For me, DMac should be the locked in 10 for the ABs; he's one of the few who creates with pass and pace. Mo'unga wsa getting better, but after 4 years in the jersey you'd expect more from him. And who knows how he comes back from Japan. He never really delivered at Test level in the 10 jersey.

There are still some in the rugby media who continue to bang that drum despite the evidence proving the exact opposite. In the ABs best performance of the year BB didn't even play!
-
The irony is, if Razor had won everything last year, wins everything this year, I think NZR give some concessions, but he didnt, needs to focus on what he has at his disposal and build on them.

He will. It's probably why Barrett gets put at 10.
And why he selects EB. What with Akira overseas too.
Unfortunately Wallace's injury has made that selection narrative easier for a while
You reckon he's going to try and select Akira from overseas?
Nope. I'm just saying he can pick EB now because "we have no one else" with Wallace down
True, not like he selected EB when WS was available last year.
I think we can all agree that if EB hadn't torn his vagina before the EOYT, Wallace would have got nothing more than garbage time, and probably not even that

I've been over BB for some time and not sure Richie is/was consistently a better 10 than DMac.

from what i see on various other channels, this site is pretty much the only place to have that view.
-
@mariner4life yeah, i dont get it, othert locations are calling for us to spend what ever it take to get RM back....to be BB's understudy, DMac third choice....i feel like im being gaslit
-
the same places think A Savea was basically the best player in black last year. I am convinced most people don't even watch games, they just watch a few highlights and parrot talking points of 2-5 years ago.

He was one of our best in 2023 but super meh in 2024. His form has dipped since he left the Canes. Same with Beaudy.

@mariner4life re BB....8 years ago

absolutely. i expect him to bounce back pretty hard this year i think.

It's the thing with forums etc, it's all just opinions, (well same as press etc too), not sure anyone ir right or wrong on BB, DMac etc, just see things different.
Same as Jordie, many rubbished him on here etc last year, then Kieran Read reckons he is Mr Rugby of ABs backline. He said that after being involved with ABs trainings and being at games. That is his opinion, and I wouldn't argue with it, or his knowledge, but also see that some who watch games (especially on tv) have other opinions , and on all players. -

I was among DMac's biggest detractors on this site and even I've come around to the firmly held belief he's matured into our best option.

Agreed.
And one of the things we need to look for this year is how well Robertson and co. develop options at 10 to back him up. Needs to look for newer talent and not harp on about RM or see BB as anything other than a short-term option.

Regardless of who is the better 10, its laughable that they are both playing 15 for their clubs at this juncture.
Razor should be having a word with their respective teams.

If Razor wants to unsuccessfully select a player out of position, that shouldn't have any bearing on SR coaches.

Well neither of them will be usurping IRB Fullback of the year William Thomas Jordan.
So they better get to sharpening their out half tools post haste if they want to play for the Allblacks.
