Why isn't O'Rourke bowling full here, instead of short of a length? Seems obvious to me he's just making it easy to get away, so am I being dim?

Henry has been an absolute menace today. 4-18. Exceptional stuff

    SL all out for 178.

Should be pretty comfortable but with the Black Caps ya never know.

Assuming Young and Ravindra will be opening ?

    Solid start. 30/0.

I forgot Young had such a good ODI record. No wonder he’s had loads of chances at test level.

If you look at his match record though he hasn't actually had much chance to play the top teams:

    All-round records | One-Day Internationals | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPNcricinfo.com

    All-round records | One-Day Internationals | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPNcricinfo.com

You can't really blame him though, he can only play the teams he is given a chance to play against.

Yeah some genuine minnows in that bunch.

Looking assured now though although some dodgy unnecessary running from these two which they don’t need to do when in this much control.

I am sticking my head on the block with a bold prediction - I reckon we've got this.

Shit it was cold down there. The coldest day I've had at the cricket since being at Carisbrook as a kid.

A few prods and mishits now, Young clearly eying a hundred, he’ll have to finish with a boundary

Too late now, not enough runs. Chapman not interested in blocking out overs to let young.get the ton. Seems fairly unusual these days for that to happen.

Henry player of the match? 4/19 are excellent numbers. Nice innings from Young but absolutely zero pressure throughout that innings.

    Wickets and economy.

    I’d give it to Henry

ODI cricket is still bloody good value. We hammered them today but much more room for ebbs and flows than 20/20s. Long may the format continue

I'm late as usual but excellent win today. Right call for Henry as player of the match with 4/19 off 10 - absolutely savage figures. Good on Young though, 90no is a solid day's work - score was enough that it could have been troublesome, and instead the BCs just blasted past it.

I am even later on this, but a very professional performance from the Black Caps.

I took my eldest boy (11) to the game, and it was fucking freezing lol, but thankfully having grown up in Wellington and having memories of freezing my tits off at the Basin I booked us tickets up in the Museum stand so we had some shelter from that insane southerly. My boy hasn't taken a lot of interest in any sports to date in his life, but this year he's taken an interest in cricket and he loved seeing them play live, which warms my heart.

On the game, Henry and Young the obvious stand out performers. Echo the sentiments above, Henry MOTM by miles as bowling in that wind with strong gusts that throw your runup off is a nightmare, his control in those conditions was absolutely world class. I thought the other bowlers went short far too often, the majority of the Sri Lankan runs came from short deliveries.

Ravindra and Young looked very assured as an opening partnership, they got us away to a very fast start with little risk. Ravindra once again looked world class until he got himself out, again. That's his biggest work on; other sides have not found any obvious weakness in his game, he just gets over confident and throws it away. If he can show even half the application and concentration that Kane does he'll end up with a fantastic record.

Young showed why leaving him out for Conway against England was an absolutely absurd decision. As talked about during the Indian series, he's really refined his technique and has a much better feel for where his off stump is now, so is not getting nicked out the way he was earlier in his career.

On Sri Lanka, their body language went to shit in the field pretty quickly. They really didn't enjoy that cold southerly and once Young and Ravindra got a good start it became a bit of a formality.

The weakness I see in his game he is getting caught on short of a length deliveries where he is getting stranded a bit and drives at it when he should leave it or play off the back foot to keep control of his shot, just a lack of judgement on length.
It gets him caught behind the wkt or square he just seems to get in to a scoring zone and needs to pull back on certain deliveries.
He has all the goods to be World Class just needs to learn to change gears at times.

With the Champions Trophy coming up I hope Young keeps his spot ahead of Conway. Williamson will likely come in for Chapman which is hard to dispute but Conway has chosen to commit to other leagues so by default he should lose his spot.

I would also like to see Bracewell come in for Phillips. I feel like Bracewell is a little more devastating with the bat and Phlllips has been pretty poor of late.

Good stuff from these Chapman and Ravindra. Chapman looks a million bucks as he often does until he gets out meekly. This could be his chance to go on and get a really big one
