Funny how with Schmidt as coach all of a sudden a number of Foster era All Blacks looked better.
Shame he didn’t want to be part of this group
There was some politics or personality issues going on, perhaps,
My understanding is he met with Razor and decided he didn’t want to work with him. It’s a shame as I think the mix would have given us some good balance.
A good coach combined with someone who has no idea? I imagine so.

We have too much talent for Italy, but man we are such a poorly selected and coached side right now. Surf Jesus has turned out to be a poor man's Fozzie but also with a strong bias to his own region.
Steady on.
You are going to defend Foster on one freak game?
Surf Jesus wept.No. Just pointing out that Robertson's arguably the most over-hyped AB coach in my lifetime.

Yeah I think Robertson worked really well with O'Gara and does well with a different style/approach coach to work with. Perhaps Schmidt thought there was too much ego, I don't know, but we lost a good, bold, coach.

Chalk and cheese would be my take

@mencey There's four or five players out there in the first half that I think we can do without next year.
Names? Some of the ones roasted on here have scored tries so without being able to see the game it is hard to get a good handle on that. BB seems obvious from the comments.

Amid the mediocrity on display in Black, Wallace Sititi has been yet again a shining light. So much to like about his game.
Been watching him around the ruck - some really intelligent stuff.
Good thing Robertson was forced to pick him.....

He’ll have to fight for his spot once Ethan is fit though

They have been bloody good nearly all tour, and I wonder why we have seldom been able to capitalize on our strong set piece?
Coaching.

So the 27-6 and 20-6 matches under Henry means? He pretty much picked the same side 5 months apart. Rubbish coach.

We have literally zero idea what to do with line breaks.
Zero.
We did the right thing there. Take the tackle, recycle and score. Simple rugby.
He had 3 support players snd NONE of them in a position to pass to to improve the situation.
That’s the problem.

Nah. that'll be his rest period.

He won Super Rugby every single year he was in charge.
Why are people surprised there was hype around him????
We're 5-1 against NH this year anyway with the only loss being a 1 pointer in Paris.
It's been a pass mark for the first year.
Rugby Championship disappointing.

Lucky it doesn’t happen often enough to be a problem

@nostrildamus Sam Cane, Ardie Savea, Beauden Barrett, ALB.
Maybe Mark Telea and Scott Barrett won't be in the starting XV.

I think it was more about loyalty to Ian Foster as he was part of his team and brought him in.
Well that was what Gregor Paul was saying in the herald.
Essentially Fozzie handed the team over to Schmidt and Ryan and the improvement was fairly immediate and we were a good side. It’s a shame they didn’t have more time with the team leading into the World Cup.
I think everyone got carried away with the hype around Razor but I always thought Schmidt was far too good a coach to be lost to NZ rugby. We would be a better side rn if he was in charge.
Still Razor is learning international rugby on the job so I expect big improvements next year.
