All Pinks vs Boks - Christchurch

not that that appears to have stopped Steddie from getting a few digs in early...the ABs have weaknesses we will exploit, but I wont tell you about them now...I guess in case they try to fix them in the next 27 months (I seem to recall hearing we don't play them next year either?)

Well yeah, Nonu used to do that at will as he was coming up the ranks but the reason he is regarded as a great ( rightly so ) is cos of all the skills he added along the way.
Difference being he was in an environment where he came up against guys in his league. This kid, being in Melbourne, just might never see a tough opponent until he plays interstate.
-
@taniwharugby Ha no wonder he is talking tough now. That is actually really annoying, nothing better than the AB's absolutely destroying another coach's theories. If we don't play them for 2 years and they keep progressing then the eventual meetup would be quite the event.

This year was supposed to be fun, with new players, new combinations, we would come back to the field a bit, and test matches would be entered with trepidation by AB fans drunk on success. The Fern would be full of acrimony and in-fighting as any stumble was blamed on someone new who should never have been there over *insert better player from my team* > > And it turns out everyone who has needed to step up has; the opposition have got worse, not us; we're picking the same fucking team every week, and it's full of players too good for whoever we are playing. >
Yeah - the ABs are paying $1.04 to win this test and the TAB might not even be offering odds on us winning TRC now.
Worse - Canterbury is paying $1.35 to win the Mitre10 Cup and something similar to end the season with the Ranfurly Shield and unless they get a raft of injuries I can't see those odds lengthening.
It's so predictable I've signed a new contract to do work.
Let's hope the cricket in India is interesting.

Make no bones about it, that Springbok team is shiiiiiiiiiitttttttttt.
I don't even bother giving one of my really good Saffa mates shit about them now, more a sympathetic ear for him to whinge about the politics of his once beloved team.

The Auckland Herald and Stuff articles quoting Eddie Jones' jabs have both referred to the ABs and England not meeting 'til 2018. That has to be shit. You can bet the house on the ABs playing England at Twickenham in November 2017.
I agree...the current state of affairs is sad. This Boks test figures to be a cakewalk unless the weather is so dire that we only win by 10 points.
We are all already counting down to the Lions next year (though I don't seriously give them a chance of winning a test) and even more so 'til we play England whenever. And we're assuming that England won't have fallen apart by then.

Yep agree that this test is probably the least captivating encounter between these two teams ever and I think Hansen is so good now that I don't think we're likely to be overconfident and screw it up like previous AB teams at various incredibly memorable times in the past. I am still very interested in our march to pass that elusive 17 straight win hurdle though. Looking forward to playing England at the end of the year, think I read an article where Eddie Jones said he only needs to improve player performance by 3% to beat us. (The article's editor probably rounded that from 3.468129% because Eddie isn't that inexact)
The build up to the 2007 Christchurch test before the RWC where they sent their B/C team was pretty uninspiring

So do the Abs tweak thier gameplan with Ardie starting, or does Ardie have to play differently to fit the game plan at the start or is his play able to just slot into the current AB gameplan?

@Canes4life thoughts on this ? obviously the ABs have the best lineout target ever to pull on a black jersey with that additional height but what else will he bring to the table ?

Turnovers. The All Blacks will let the Springboks win every lineout and then Ardie will swoop on them and steal it right back. Saves our tight five for the scrums.

Some interesting info there. Other than the WC final the only really close one was where DC did the droppie v Ireland to break the tie right at the end (that one point win over England in Dunedin not really that close as they were 15 points up and the game was won - England's last try came after the hooter).

An awful lot of arrogance and nonsense talk on this thread as far as I can see
Bored with the All Blacks winning? Fuck off
Not entertaining enough for you ? fuck off
Not feeling emotions like you want to? fuck off
You in this thing for the All Blacks and what that organisation achieves and accomplishes or how much entertainment you're entitled too?
Fuck off with your 15 second attention span.
Real rugby supporters will once again welcome the physical and tactical battle with the old foe (and friends), the ABs will be hugely psyched and me behind them supporting all their efforts and appreciating the Boks, regardless of their success.
See that's what the ABs represent - striving for excellence, winning and being humble and respectful in the process
You won't catch them bemoaning the relative ability of the opposition or counting wins before they're earned.
I can't wait for another showdown between us and the Saffas, always a great occasion
and lastly, fuck off

No, Ardie plays the AB gameplan & if he does it well thats awesome (see NMS last year, similar deal), if he doesn't Matt Todd very much can play the AB gameplan. And will.
Its no different 2012 to me, where Kaino had shown the AB gameplan for a 6, Thompson, Vito & Messam (all superb athletes) then had a shot at it. Thompson played like Thompson. Vito played like Vito & Messam after briefly playing like Messam, switched to playing the AB gameplan & locked himself into the jersey till Kaino came back. Same when Luatua got a chance & played like Read, in the 6 shirt. And got dropped.
A good test match for Ardie will be one where half the fern get miffed because he is not making huge runs & popping up all over in space, because that probably means he is doing what Cane has been doing instead. If he gets a chance to gallop 60m he will & should, but above all he needs to play test match rugby as an AB 7 does.
