There's only what 4 tests before the Lions series? I like it.

Get him up to speed ASAP

It's not like they are breaking up a form midfield

Sounds like he's gonna attack at 13 and defend at 12

If Kerevi still had what it takes I think he will cause us all sorts of bother. Borthwick has swapped Lawrence and Slade around and given that under our defensive plan 12 & 13 have quite distinct roles, I fear a mix up or two and Kerevi on form is more than capable of taking advantage.

its such a strange decision. I know NZ favour the second five eighth model but we've always looked better, and so has Smith, with a hard running 12 on his shoulder. We will look flimsy in the 10 / 12 channel in defence too.

Not sure we have really had one of those for awhile..

@nostrildamus if you dismiss Havili it's probably been almost ten years.

No Skelton. Kind of expected I guess, as he's been outside the bubble until this week

    13 Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii

Luckily for him that is not one of the most complex positions to defend at!

I imagine there will be a fair few high balls for Suaalii to contest as well - if Lolesio doesn't drop the fucking ball.

TBH I'd prefer Edmed at 10 against England. Maybe his ceiling is lower than others. Maybe his reputation is enhanced by a NH side featuring Hall and Stevenson.

But, sometimes, you just need an angry ranga taking on the line.

@NTA will be interesting when Edmed gets a crack on this tour and in what capacity (against who, starter vs bench)

With Ben Donaldson theoretically the first understudy, Edmed will probaby only start if Schmidt's happy throwing Donaldson at fullback for a match instead of giving him a go at 10.

Regardless, you'd think it'd be against Scotland in the third week of the tour. If they lose this game then they'll want to bank a win against their easiest opposition, Wales. If they win this game, they'll want to keep the dream of a grand slam alive against Wales. So either way you'd imagine they'll largely keep the same team in tact for the first couple of matches.

The best chance of Edmed/Donaldson getting a run at 10 is if Australia lose this weekend and then win against Wales, in which case they might get some proper minutes against Scotland.

i didn't say you wouldn't know them... just me. Off the top of my head the ones that I don't seem to recognise are 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12 & 13. Mind you I don't study Aus rugby too closely and there does seem to have been a bit of change going on. Put the two together and, well you know. Or in my case, you don't know.
