We're going to field close to our strongest side, so it's pretty important we are at least competitive in this game.
Very interesting to see how Kerevi goes, we've really lacked a bit of x-factor line breaking at 12 this year. Hopefully he can provide it, though I'm unsure our 10 will be good enough to put him in position to succeed.
-
Love Kerevi, and i hope he regains his form.

If Lolesio gets the gig - and no reason to think otherwise - we're going to get fucked on by England's rush defence.
Not sure Tupou has the ability to influence the game based on his last outings.
If England were competitive with the ABs on an intercept try, they're gonna smoke us.
Grand Slam over before it begins is my entirely realistic opinion.

Had a knee injury didn't he? Seemed to quench his fire a bit when he came back last time.

If Kerevi still had what it takes I think he will cause us all sorts of bother. Borthwick has swapped Lawrence and Slade around and given that under our defensive plan 12 & 13 have quite distinct roles, I fear a mix up or two and Kerevi on form is more than capable of taking advantage.
-
I think the Aussies need to play a tighter game. They looked pretty good around the fringes rather than giving NL too much ball.

its such a strange decision. I know NZ favour the second five eighth model but we've always looked better, and so has Smith, with a hard running 12 on his shoulder. We will look flimsy in the 10 / 12 channel in defence too.

Kerevi is coming off a long lay-off and playing in Japan. I'd be amazed if he comes back in form.

now THAT is bold selecting holy shit

Rumour is Suaalii at 12 and Ikitau at 14
And Kerevi at 13? Surely not... 12 Kerevi, Ikitau 13 and Suaalii 14 has to be the go if Suaalii is starting.
In saying that, I'd be surprised if Suaalii does start - give him some minutes off the bench on the wing and then maybe give him a start in the midfield against Wales (or for Australia A).
-
@barbarian said in England vs. Australia (2024):
No I think Kerevi on the bench. Ikitau at 13, not 14.
According to Christy Doran, who's usually on the money, Suaalii will start at 13 but, sensibly, will defend at inside centre. Ikitau will wear 12.

a thought.
A debut at Twickenham is not the easiest place to learn rugby's interpretation of a high tackle and how very different it is to league
