I haven't watched much under these new rules but breakdown penalties seem more of a lottery than ever. Players are stopping playing because of the risk and have no idea when in the right or wrong.
I'm just watching Lions vs WP and it's soooo much better to watch than any NPC I've watched this season. Might be better players though...

Hika is an idiot
What happened?
Walked right around a ruck and played at the ball giving a kickable penalty with time up.
Anyone think Francis should have had a go for 3 rather than kick to the corner?
No. It was 3 minutes to go on the clock. A kick would take up 1.15 max giving Welly time to kick off deep and put pressure on. The 3 points aren't a given so there is a good chance of being in exactly the position they goy into at the end.
Kick to touch and a drive ate up nearly all the time. Just unluckily that a dropped ball and two penalties screwed up the plan.As for Hika, that's what I was alluding to before about the rucks. I had no idea at all if he was legal or not as it seems you can walk through now but if the ref deems you have come slightly around the side you get pinged.
I'm not blaming the one call, it happened a number of times and players shrugged their shoulders. -

Yes but ...
... you could fuck up the lineout drive, give away possession, allow the opposition into your half and give up a kickable penalty ...
Take away the option of the 3. Make them score a try.
Assuming your kick is successful, of course.

Seriously though, Fifita is some athlete.
Watching Counties - I like Suasua as a coach, he did some great things with the Black Ferns - but Counties seem dogged by the same old problems. fractured forward pack. and a lack of lateral thinking at crucial times. We really need a Coles and a Goodes (plus a Barrett would be handy) -

Even if you miss worst thing is someone is dropping out a 22 to you

Sorry to spoil the fun but that jumping over tacklers shpuld be a yellow card.
If its allowed then someone is going to get a nasty boot facial one day.
Jumping into tackles was a big no no when we were learning the game as 8 year olds
-
@Higgins If he doesn't clear the player when jumping and goes cart wheeling over the top he's going to get seriously injured. the crowd then start baying for a red card and the commentators start to say its a dangerous tackle. Either way if its legal or illegal I just think its dump play.
