NPC - news, injuries etc

Is that why McMillan was talking him up last week.
-
@Bovidae you well be right , from what I have heard Wainui won’t be the profile name they are chasing ..
-
@Steven-Harris BOP must be flush with money.
-
@Bovidae BOP are the North Island version of Ta$man Invitational XV. Probably have been since 2019.
On a serious note: It's strange because I thought they have a good development programme and they should be able to develop good players from their own player pool.
-
Wasn't sure where to post this - but Keepa Mewett (Bay of Plenty) has been doing a series of one on ones with various people (mainly ex. Bay of Plenty players on their careers, goal setting, fitness regimes etc. Very interesting and worth a watch. I think Mike Delany was the last and Jared Hoeata is next.

@Bovidae man I really hope not. Don't get me wrong, he's a talented guy, but I can't see past his conviction.
yeah, its the first think I think of every time he's mentioned
"Included was an “outstanding” signing which might “shock” a few people, MacLeod said."
I wonder who that is?

The obvious answer is Solomon Alaimalo.
-
@Bovidae that's what I was wondering but figured it would have been annouced

@Stargazer so one Alaimalo out, another in (probably)
-
The article says he should be back around June
-
Charles going to Italy as he mustn't be part of the Highlanders WTG.

he has some mongrel
well duh, and yep that will follow him.
-
absolutely gutted for Southland ..in my opinion the Highlanders needed to work with the Southland union to keep Selby Rickit at the Highlanders ..would it not be better to have 2 strong unions that make up the Highlanders ..?.a little miffed at the player himself after Southland stood by him during his trial .🤔..So much for the investment in your under 19s that took out the National under 19 tournament BOP..
-
@Steven-Harris isn't he still at the Highlanders?
-
@Bones that's what I was going to say
-
is his contract for beyond 2021? If not, you have to assume the logical next step is Chiefs?
-
@Bones Yeah, I think it's a bit premature to suggest the Highlanders have already lost him after signing with BOP, although the chances that he'll jump ship after this SR season is a good possibility, of course.
@taniwharugby The duration of his contract hasn't been published (by NZR/Highlanders).
-
@taniwharugby bit of a douche move then eh, to both Southland and the Highlanders. Then again perhaps his "issues" taught him not to take a professional career for granted and to go get what's best for him (and a lot of people don't think highly of him anyway).
-
did his run in actually occur in Invercargill? he might just really want to get out of town, im sure he gets a few sideways looks
-
@Kiwiwomble Yeah, it happened in Invercargill.
-
@Bones am sure he has his reasons, but seems tough to ditch Southland when they stood by him through his issues, that I dont expect he will ever shake off.

Shame that Crusaders/ Ta$man drew on the locking stocks. Thought Selby Rickit was from Manawatu anyways?
-
@Kiwiwomble yeah outside Night n Day.

Yeah well duh the ABs need some mongrel, sure It will follow him it has followed many players who have done stupid shit a lot not out in the media either.
If people new the half of some players stories.
Some from your region as well. -
@Chris I've heard plenty, some from your region too, but those guys were lucky many of them played in an era where their every move wasn't scrutinised and people didnt have phones to capture dumb shit, probably in portrait mode too!

Yeah mate from my region too totally agree about being scrutinised more ,but people keep doing dumb shit they don’t seem to learn.

I think some Ferners already predicted this:
Neil Barnes is the new head coach of the Taranaki Bulls (for the next two seasons).
Barnes will return to Taranaki once he has completed his Gallagher Chiefs Super Rugby Aotearoa campaign, however he will work closely with Yarrows Taranaki Bulls players in the coming months. Taranaki Rugby will appoint its Yarrows Taranaki Bulls selectors and management team over the coming weeks.

Kingi, captain of the Sacred Heart 1st XV in 2020, is the son of former Counties Manukau representative Dion Kingi and the grandson of Counties and All Blacks legend Bruce Robertson and is tipped for a big future in the game. Kingi, who can play lock, blindside and number eight, played junior football at Ardmore Marist and represented the Blues U18 and NZ Barbarians U18 sides in 2020. He has linked up with the Chiefs U20 side this year and will return to his Counties Manukau origins to begin his professional career.

I did.

IIRC, (a majority of) the provincial unions have already rejected a format based on geography, but now NZR is still asking the public whether they want it? Is this because they want to force this upon the provinces?
The survey has been sent to #TeamAllBlacks members.
